Mary Astell
Mary Astell (12 November 1666 – 11 May 1731) was an English protofeminist author, philosopher, and rhetorician who advocated for equal educational opportunities for women. John Harvey Astell (20 March 1806 – 17 January 1887) was a British Conservative politician. Astell was first elected as a Conservative MP for Cambridge Cambridge ( ) is a List of cities in the United Kingdom, city and non-metropolitan district in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It is the county town of Cambridgeshire and is located on the River Cam, north of London. As of the 2021 Unit ... in 1852, but his term was short-lived after, upon petition, he was unseated in March 1853, when the writ for the seat was also suspended.
