Assam Women's League
The Assam Women's League is the top division of women's football league in the Indian state of Assam. The league is organised by the Assam Football Association (AFA), the official football governing body of the state. The inaugural season will be held in 2023. League format The league features twelve teams, placed in three groups. The group stage of the league consist of round robin phase with two winners from each group progressing to the final round. The winners of the final round will be crowned the champions of the Assam Women's League. The Assam Football Association (AFA) is one of the 37 Indian state football associations that are affiliated to the All India Football Federation. It governs association football, football in the state of Assam, India and also administers the Assam football team, Assam men's and Assam women's football team, women's football teams. The Indian Women's League 2 (abbreviated as the IWL 2) is the women's second tier professional football league in the Indian football league system. The competition is established in 2023, with the first season starting from 2024. The league was launched as India's first national women's second tier professional football league below the Indian Women's League. Diphu () is a town in the Karbi Anglong district of the state of Assam, India. It is the meeting place of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the headquarter of Karbi Anglong district. Etymology The word ''Diphu'' came from Dimasa language, 'Di' stand for 'clear liquid/water', and 'Phu' stand for 'to pass through', meaning a place where 'clear river pass through'.
