Airline reservation systems (ARS) are systems that allow an airline to sell their inventory (seats). It contains information on schedules and fares and contains a database of reservations (or passenger name records) and of tickets issued (if applicable). ARSs are part of passenger service systems (PSS), which are applications supporting the direct contact with the passenger. ARS eventually evolved into the computer reservations system (CRS). A computer reservation system is used for the reservations of a particular airline and interfaces with a global distribution system (GDS) which supports travel agencies and other distribution channels in making reservations for most major airlines in a single system. Americans for Responsible Solutions (ARS) was a United States non-profit organization and super PAC that supported gun control. The group's stated goal was "to encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership." It typically supported Democratic politicians in elections. In 2016, the organization merged with the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence to become Giffords. American Rocket Society
The American Rocket Society (ARS) began its existence on 4 April 1930, under the name of the American Interplanetary Society. It was founded by science fiction writers G. Edward Pendray, David Lasser, Laurence Manning, Nathan Schachner, and others. Pendray corresponded with Willy Ley of the German rocket society, Verein für Raumschiffahrt, and visited him in 1931. The members originally conducted their own rocket experiments in New York and New Jersey. The society printed its own journal. The Alliance for the Re–liberation of Somalia (ARS) was a political party formed in Eritrea during September 2007 as the successor to the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) during the Ethiopian military occupation of Somalia. It served as the principal political opposition to the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia (TFG) and participated in the 2007 and 2008 years of the insurgency. During mid-2008 the alliance divided into two wings over the issue of peace negotiations with the TFG while Ethiopian troops were still occupying Somalia, one wing in Djibouti led by Sharif Sheikh Ahmed was willing to negotiate and the other in Asmara led by Hassan Dahir Aweys demanded Ethiopian troops withdraw first. Audience Response is a type of interaction associated with the use of Audience Response systems to facilitate interaction between a presenter and their audience. Systems for co-located audiences combine wireless hardware with presentation software. Systems for remote audiences may use telephones or web polls for audiences watching through television or the internet. Various names are used for this technology, including real-time response, the worm, dial testing, and Audience Response meters. In educational settings, such systems are often called "student response systems" or "personal response systems".
