Arkansas–Texas Football Rivalry
The Arkansas–Texas football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas Longhorns. History Texas and Arkansas first met in 1894 in a 54–0 victory by Texas. The two programs have met 79 times and have played many historically notable games, such as the 1964 game in Austin that led to Arkansas's 1964 national title, the 1969 Game of the Century in Fayetteville between #2 Arkansas and #1 Texas, which eventually led to Texas's 1969 national title, the 1981 game in Fayetteville that is the largest margin of victory for an unranked team over the top-ranked team in college football since World War II when Arkansas beat #1 Texas 42–11, and the first game of the 21st century, when Arkansas beat Texas 27–6 in the 2000 Cotton Bowl. Arkansas Razorbacks Football
The Arkansas Razorbacks football program represents the University of Arkansas in the sport of American football. The Razorbacks compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The program has one national championship awarded by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and Helms Athletic Foundation (HAF) in 1964, and one national championship awarded by the Foundation for the Analysis of Competitions and Tournaments (Rothman (FACT)) in 1977. The school does not claim the 1977 title. Arkansas has won 13 conference championships, includes 58 All-Americans amongst its list of players, and holds an all-time record of 735–530–40. The 2000 SBC Cotton Bowl Classic game was a post-season college football bowl game that took place on Jan. 1, 2000 in Dallas, Texas. The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Texas Longhorns 27–6. The 2014 Texas Bowl was an American college football bowl game played on December 29, 2014, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. It was one of the 2014–15 bowl games that concluded the 2014 FBS football season. The ninth edition of the Texas Bowl, it featured the Arkansas Razorbacks of the Southeastern Conference and the Texas Longhorns of the Big 12 Conference. Big XII Conference
The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas, USA. It consists of ten full-member universities. It is a member of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for all sports. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the higher of two levels of NCAA Division I football competition. The 1999 Texas Longhorns football team represented the University of Texas at Austin during the 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season. 1999 Arkansas Razorbacks Football Team
The 1999 Arkansas Razorbacks football team represented the University of Arkansas during the 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season. Arkansas won the 2000 Cotton Bowl vs the Texas Longhorns on New Year's Day. It was the first college football game to kickoff in the 21st Century. It was also Arkansas' first bowl victory since the 1985 Holiday Bowl, and the Razorbacks first Cotton Bowl win since the 1976 Cotton Bowl Classic. 1981 Arkansas Razorbacks Football Team
The 1981 Arkansas Razorbacks football team represented the University of Arkansas during the 1981 NCAA Division I-A football season. The biggest win of the year was against a #1 Texas team, which the Razorbacks were rivals with already. Although unranked, the Razorbacks came out on top by 31 points, ending Texas' run at the top of the polls. Unranked at the end of the regular season, the Hogs still received a Gator Bowl berth against a 10–2 North Carolina team ranked 11th.
