Archery At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Team
The men's team archery event was one of five archery events held at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was held at Yumenoshima Park, in Tokyo, Japan, with the ranking round taking place on 23 July and match play on 26 July. Background This was the 9th consecutive Olympic appearance of the event, which has been held every Games since 1988. Of the 12 teams that competed in 2016, 8 qualified to return, including all four semifinalists (winner South Korea, silver medalist the United States, bronze medalist Australia, and fourth-place finisher China). The other teams from 2016 that qualified to return were the Netherlands, France, Indonesia, and Chinese Taipei. Kazakhstan qualified to return for the first time since 2000; Japan, Great Britain, and India competed in 2012. Yumenoshima Park
is a sports park in Yumenoshima, Kōtō, Kōtō Ward, Tokyo, Japan. It was made by improving a landfill site called Yumenoshima, which was the final disposal site for garbage from 1957 until 1967. 2021 Archery Final Olympic Qualification Tournament
The 2021 Archery Final Olympic Qualification Tournament was the final qualifying tournament for archers to qualify to the 2020 Summer Olympics at Tokyo, Japan. The tournament was held at the Stade Sébastien Charléty, Charlety Stadium in Paris, France from 18 to 21 June. Paris also hosted the 2021 Archery World Cup Stage 3 from 21 to 28 June after this tournament. The tournament only consisted of recurve events (no compound events) as used in the 2020 Summer Olympics- men and women's individual, and the men and women's team. The two highest National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in the men's individual together with the highest NOC in the women's individual earned a spot to the Olympics; the 3 top teams in both team events also earned a spot to the Olympics and also earned each NOC on that team a place in the individual events. Sjef Van Den Berg
Sjef van den Berg (born 14 April 1995) is a retired Dutch competitive archer. He has won a total of two medals (a silver in the individual recurve and a bronze for the Dutch team) at the 2015 European Games, and eventually finished fourth in the men's individual archery at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Van der Berg currently trains at HBV Ontspanning in Sint-Oedenrode, under the tutelage of his coach Ron van der Hoff, a former Olympian at the Athens 2004 edition. Born and raised in southern town of Heeswijk-Dinther, van den Berg took up archery as a four-year-old, and then made his international debut in 2010. Steve Wijler (born 19 September 1996) is a Dutch Archery, archer competing in men's Recurve bow, recurve events. He won the bronze medal in the men's individual recurve event at the 2017 World Archery Championships held in Mexico City, Mexico. In 2021, Wijler and Gabriela Schloesser won the silver medal in the Archery at the 2020 Summer Olympics - Mixed team, mixed team event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Gijs Broeksma
Gijs Broeksma (born 10 December 1999) is a Dutch Archery, archer. He competes in Recurve bow, recurve archery and is right-handed. He competed in Archery at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Archery at the 2020 Summer Olympics where he as a part of Dutch team reached fourth place together with his teammates Sjef van den Berg en Steve Wijler. In the individual tournament he reached 14th place in qualifications. Broeksma won in the knock-out phase and the 32nd finals but eventually lost in 16th finals after a shoot-off with 6-5 from de Takaharu Furukawa of Japan. Im Dong-hyun (; ; born 12 May 1986) is a South Korean archer. He competes for the South Korean national team and is a former world number one. He has 20/200 vision in his left eye and 20/100 vision in his right eye, meaning he needs to be 10 times closer to see objects clearly with his left eye, compared to someone with perfect vision.
