Archery At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Individual
The men's individual archery event was one of five Archery at the 2020 Summer Olympics, archery events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was held at Yumenoshima Park, in Tokyo, Japan. There were 64 competitors from 40 nations, with nations having either 1 or 3 archers. Background This was the 13th consecutive Olympic appearance of the event, which has been held every Games since archery returned to the Olympic program in 1972. Six of the 8 quarterfinalists from the 2016 Games returned: silver medalist Jean-Charles Valladont of France, bronze medalist Brady Ellison of the United States, fourth-place finisher Sjef van den Berg of the Netherlands, and quarterfinalists Mauro Nespoli of Italy, Taylor Worth of Australia, and Takaharu Furukawa of Japan. Yumenoshima Park
is a sports park in Yumenoshima, Kōtō, Kōtō Ward, Tokyo, Japan. It was made by improving a landfill site called Yumenoshima, which was the final disposal site for garbage from 1957 until 1967. Oh Jin-hyek
Oh Jin-hyek (; , Hanja: 吳真爀; born 15 August 1981) is a South Korean archer. Oh first competed for the Korean national team in 1999, but did not win a major individual international tournament until he won the gold medal in the Men's individual event at the 2012 Summer Olympics, also becoming the first Korean male archer to win an Olympic individual gold medal. With partners Im Dong-hyun and Kim Bub-min, he also finished in third place in the Men's team event. He was the world number one ranked archer from April 2013 to June 2014, winning the individual gold medal at the 2013 Archery World Cup Final and two individual silver medals at the 2011 and 2013 World Championships. Kim Je-deok
Kim Je-deok (; born 12 April 2004) is a South Korean archer. He is a three-time Olympic gold medalist, winning in the mixed team and men's team events at the 2020 Summer Olympics as well as the men's team events at the 2024 Summer Olympics. He was the youngest archer competing at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Kim got into archery in 2013 when he was nine. Kim Woo-jin (; or ; born June 20, 1992) is a South Korean archer specializing in recurve archery. He first held the world number one ranking in 2011.
