Antony Gibbs
Antony Gibbs (sometimes credited as Tony Gibbs; 17 October 1925 – 26 February 2016) was an English film and television editor with more than 40 feature film credits. He was a member of the American Cinema Editors (ACE). Career Gibbs' editing career began in the mid-1950s as an assistant to Ralph Kemplen and to Alan Osbiston, and through them he became involved with the brief " New Wave" of British filmmaking at its beginnings. In particular Osbiston (and Gibbs) edited ''The Entertainer'' (1960), which was directed by Tony Richardson; Richardson was one of the most prominent of the British New Wave directors. Gibbs was then principal editor for several of the subsequent "New Wave" films, including Richardson's ''A Taste of Honey'' (1961), '' The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner'' (1962), and ''Tom Jones'' (1963), and also '' The Knack ...and How to Get It'' (1965), which was directed by Richard Lester. Donald Cammell
Donald Seton Cammell (17 January 1934 – 24 April 1996) was a Scottish painter, screenwriter, and film director. He has a cult reputation largely due to his debut film ''Performance'', which he wrote the screenplay for and co-directed with Nicolas Roeg. He died by suicide after the last film he directed, '' Wild Side'', was taken away from him and recut by the production company. ''Performance'' (stylised in promotional material as ''performance.'') is a 1970 British crime drama film directed by Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg, written by Cammell and filmed by Roeg. The film stars James Fox as a violent and ambitious London gangster who, after killing an old friend, goes into hiding at the home of a reclusive rock star (Mick Jagger). The BAFTA Award for Best Editing is a film award presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) at the annual British Academy Film Awards, to recognize a film editor who has delivered outstanding editing in a film. BAFTA is a British organisation that hosts annual awards shows for film, television, and video games (and formerly also for children's film and television). Since 1966, selected editors have been awarded with the BAFTA award for Best Editing at an annual ceremony. Founded in 1950, American Cinema Editors (ACE) is an honorary society of film editors who are voted in based on the qualities of professional achievements, their education of others, and their dedication to editing. Members use the post-nominal letters "ACE". The organization's "Eddie Awards" are routinely covered in trade magazines such as ''The Hollywood Reporter'' and ''Variety''. The society is not an industry union, such as the I.A.T.S.E. (specifically the Motion Picture Editors Guild or MPEG), to which an editor might also belong.
