Andrew Wilson (10 December 1879 – 13 March 1945) was a Scottish footballer who played the majority of his career at Sheffield Wednesday, and was also called up to the Scotland national team. At Wednesday he won the Football League in 1903 and 1904, and the FA Cup in 1907. Colmonell
Colmonell (Scottish Gaelic: ''Cill Cholmain Eala''; meaning the church of St. Colman of Lainn Eala – in Lynally, County Offaly, Ireland) is a small village and civil parish in the Stinchar Valley, South Ayrshire, Scotland. The nearest town is Girvan, away. The River Stinchar runs through the valley and the Colmonell area boasts three ruined castles: Craigneil Castle (thirteenth century), Kirkhill Castle (sixteenth century) and Knockdolian Castle (sixteenth century). Sheffield Wednesday Football Club is a professional association football club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The 1911–12 British Home Championship was a football competition played between the British Home Nations during the second half of the 1911–12 season. England and Scotland shared the title after both beat Wales and Ireland and then drew the deciding match at Hampden Park. Ireland took third place after beating Wales in an exciting 3–2 win away in Cardiff. Wales, who came last with zero points, lost all three matches and conceded six goals. England began the competition with a 6–1 thrashing of Ireland in Dublin, giving them the immediate advantage and making them favourites for the title, having won four of the previous five tournaments. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. Trevor Francis
Trevor John Francis (19 April 1954 – 24 July 2023) was an English footballer who played as a forward for a number of clubs in England, the United States, Italy, Scotland and Australia. In 1979 he became Britain's first £1 million player following his transfer from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest. He scored the winning goal for Forest in the 1979 European Cup final against Malmö. He won the European Cup again with the club the following year. 1906–07 FA Cup
The 1906–07 FA Cup was the 36th season of the world's oldest association football competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (more usually known as the FA Cup). The Wednesday won the competition for the second time, beating holders Everton 2–1 in the final at Crystal Palace. Matches were scheduled to be played at the stadium of the team named first on the date specified for each round, which was always a Saturday. If scores were level after 90 minutes had been played, a replay would take place at the stadium of the second-named team later the same week.
