Amir (also spelled Ameer or Emir; ar, اَمير) is an Arabic masculine name. The name comes from the same root as the word emir. In Arabic the name means prince. The word originally meant "Commander (of army)". It later became a title given to a ruler's son, and hence "prince". The name has also been loaned into other languages. Western Asia, West Asia, or Southwest Asia, is the westernmost subregion of the larger geographical region of Asia, as defined by some academics, UN bodies and other institutions. Sardar Ameer Buksh Khan Bhutto (, ur, امیر بخش خان بھٹو ;) is President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Sindh and an ex-Member of the Sindh Assembly. Amir Jabbar Hinton (born February 14, 1997) is an American-born naturalized Syrian professional basketball player for Kouvot of the Finnish Korisliiga. He also plays for the Syria men's national basketball team. Hinton played college basketball for Shaw University and Lock Haven University. Amir Mirza Hekmati
Amir Mirza Hekmati ( fa, امیر میرزا حکمتی); is a United States Marine veteran who was arrested in August 2011 for allegedly spying for the CIA in Iran. On January 9, 2012, he was sentenced to death for the charges. On March 5, 2012, the Iranian Supreme Court overturned the death sentence and ordered a retrial, saying the verdict against Hekmati was "not complete". On January 16, 2016, Hekmati was released and allowed to leave Iran as part of a prisoner trade between the U.S. and Iran. He returned to the United States on January 21, 2016. He sued the Government of Iran on May 11, 2016. He received a default judgment of $63 million on October 3, 2017. In November 2019 he sued the government for unpaid compensation. Amir Hashemi-Moghaddam (born 3 June 1966) is a former Iranian football player. He resides in Beuningen, Netherlands. Hashemi started his career in his native, Iran, with Niroye Zamini and Esteghlal. Hashemi played 14 times for the Iran national football team against Poland, Russia, Angola, Japan, S. Korea, Qatar, Thailand and some other teams.
