American Idol Season 6
The sixth season of ''American Idol'' premiered on the Fox Broadcasting Company as a two-night, four-hour premiere special on January 16 and 17, and ran until May 23, 2007. Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson returned as judges, and Ryan Seacrest returned as host. A record of 74 million votes were cast in the finale round, and a record 609 million votes were cast in the entire season. Jordin Sparks won the competition, while Blake Lewis was the runner-up. This is the first season not to be syndicated under the '' Rewind'' package. Regional auditions Contestants were required to be between the ages 16 and 28 on August 6, 2006. Ryan Seacrest
Ryan John Seacrest (born December 24, 1974) is an American television presenter and producer. Seacrest is the host of '' Wheel of Fortune'', having hosted since replacing long-time host Pat Sajak in September 2024. Seacrest co-hosted and served as executive producer of '' Live with Kelly and Ryan'', and has hosted other media including ''American Idol'', ''American Top 40'', and ''On Air with Ryan Seacrest''. He became co-host of '' Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve'' in 2005, and became the sole host following Clark's death in 2012. Seacrest received Emmy Award nominations for ''American Idol'' each year from 2004 to 2013, and once more in 2016. The Minneapolis Convention Center is a large convention center located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota that opened in 1990. It is located one block away from Nicollet Mall near Orchestra Hall (Minneapolis), Orchestra Hall. The Minneapolis Convention Center has a quadruple-domed roof and because of its volume can host multiple events on the same day. Target Center is a multi-purpose arena located in Minneapolis that opened in 1990. It hosts major family shows, concerts, sporting events, graduations and private events.
