Alt-J
Alt-J (stylised as alt-J, real name Δ) are an English indie rock band formed in 2007 in Leeds. Their lineup includes Joe Newman (guitar/lead vocals), Thom Sonny Green (drums), Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards/vocals), and formerly Gwil Sainsbury (guitar/bass). Their debut album ''An Awesome Wave'' was released in May 2012 in Europe, and in September 2012 in the United States, and won the 2012 British Mercury Prize. Sainsbury left the band in early 2014. Relaxer (album)
''Relaxer'' (stylised as ''RELAXER'') is the third studio album by English indie rock band Alt-J, released on 2 June 2017 by Infectious Music and the Canvasback Music division of Atlantic Records. It was originally scheduled to be released on 9 June 2017 but the band later decided to release it a week earlier. The band recorded ''Relaxer'' in London with producer Charlie Andrew, who also produced Alt-J's first two albums. It includes songs composed entirely during the album's recording and songs dating back to the band's formative years at the University of Leeds. Six of the album's eight tracks feature String section, strings arranged by Alt-J and performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra. "House of the Rising Sun" is a rearrangement of the traditional folk tune with additional verses from the band. "3WW" and "Deadcrush" feature guest vocals from Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice and "Last Year" features guest vocals from Marika Hackman, who sang on Alt-J's previous album. Alt- ... ''The Dream'' is the fourth studio album by English indie rock band Alt-J, released on 11 February 2022 by Infectious Music and the Canvasback Music division of Atlantic Records. It was promoted with the single "U&Me", which was released alongside the album's announcement on 22 September 2021. The track listing for the album was also revealed on this date through publication ''Stereogum''. "Get Better" was released as the album's second single on 3 November 2021 and was accompanied by a pixel-art music video. "Hard Drive Gold" was released as the album's third single on 5 January 2022. "The Actor" was released as the fourth single on 7 February 2022. Artwork The artwork for ''The Dream''s cover is a drawing by the artist Joel Wyllie. Critical reception The album received a four-star rating from '' The Observer'', who said it was a "stroll around the curiosity shop". This Is All Yours
''This Is All Yours'' is the second album by English indie rock band Alt-J, released on 22 September 2014 through Infectious. It was promoted with four singles: " Hunger of the Pine", " Left Hand Free", " Every Other Freckle", and "Warm Foothills". It topped the UK Albums Chart, was runner up in Belgium, Australia, and Canada and reached number 4 in the United States. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Background and recording On 25 May 2012, Alt-J released their debut album '' An Awesome Wave'', which won the Mercury Prize in 2012. Thom Sonny Green
Thomas Stuart Green (born 5 November 1985), known professionally as Thom Sonny Green, is an English drummer and electronic music producer. Green attended Leeds University, where he met the musicians with whom he would found the band Alt-J in 2007. The band released its debut album, '' An Awesome Wave'', in 2012, followed by ''This Is All Yours'' in 2014. In 2016, Green released a solo album of electronic music entitled '' High Anxiety''. The album was recorded over a span of several years while on tour with Alt-J, and reflects Green's medical problems with anxiety and major hearing loss due to Alport syndrome. '''' |

"Tessellate" is a song by English indie rock band Alt-J from their debut studio album, '' An Awesome Wave'' (2012). The song was written by Joe Newman, Gus Unger-Hamilton, Gwilym Sainsbury and Thom Green and produced by Charlie Andrew. It was originally released on 13 October 2011 as a double A-side single with “ Bloodflood”, before being released separately on 13 July 2012 as the album's third single. Music video A music video to accompany the release of "Tessellate" was first released on YouTube on 9 July 2012. The video was directed by Alex Southam and is a reworking of the painting ''The School of Athens'' by Raphael, using 21st century characters in a room similar to the painting's background (Panthéon, in Paris). The Mercury Prize, formerly called the Mercury Music Prize, is an annual Music award, music prize awarded for the best album released by a musical act from the Music of the United Kingdom, United Kingdom or Music of Ireland, Ireland. It was created by Jon Webster and Robert Chandler in association with the British Phonographic Industry and British Association of Record Dealers in 1992 as an alternative to the Brit Awards. Infectious Music
Infectious Music is an independent record label owned by BMG, whose bands have included Alt-J, Ash and the Subways. History Infectious Music was established in 1993 as Infectious Records by former Zerra One drummer Korda Marshall after leaving Bertelsmann ( BMG-Ariola, the original major label BMG company), where he was the A&R manager of RCA Records and was involved with the running of Dave Stewart's AnXious label. Marshall left BMG as one of the acts he had co-signed, Take That, were not getting enough of a return on BMG's investment in the early 1990s (this being the time before they had released " Pray)" with Marshall going on to launch Infectious on 27 April 1993. Alt Key
The Alt key (pronounced or ) on a computer keyboard is used to change (alternate) the function of other pressed keys. Thus, the Alt key is a modifier key, used in a similar fashion to the Shift key. For example, simply pressing ''A'' will type the letter 'a', but holding down the Alt key while pressing ''A'' will cause the computer to perform an function, which varies from Computer program, program to program.
