The men's slalom competition of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics was held at Whistler Creekside in Whistler, British Columbia, on February 27, 2010. Giuliano Razzoli of Italy won the gold and Ivica Kostelić of Croatia picked up his second silver medal of these Olympics; André Myhrer of Sweden took the bronze. The last alpine event of the 2010 Olympics was held in challenging weather conditions, which included rain. The start was lowered 66 vertical feet (20 m), the same start as the women's race. Alpine skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics was held in Canada at Whistler Creekside in Whistler, British Columbia, north of Vancouver. The ten events were scheduled for 13–27 February; weather delayed the first event, the men's downhill, two days until Monday, 15 February. Medal table Notably absent from the medals in these Olympics were the Austrian men, who had won 8 medals in 2006 and 7 in 2002. France and host Canada were shut out from the podium, as were the German men and the Swiss and Italian women. The U.S. had its best Olympics ever with eight alpine medals, only the fourth nation to achieve that total in a single Olympics (Austria, France, Switzerland). Individually, three men and five women won multiple medals; triple medalists were Bode Miller of the U.S. and Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway, who both won a medal of each color. Julien Lizeroux
Julien Lizeroux (born 5 September 1979 in Moûtiers) is a retired French World Cup alpine ski racer. He competed mainly in slalom, but also in giant slalom and combined. Born in Moûtiers, Savoie, Lizeroux is a member of Douanes-La Plagne. He made his World Cup debut in 2000 and has three World Cup victories, all in slalom. Lizeroux won silver medals in the super combined and the slalom on home snow at the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère. He finished 9th in the slalom and 18th in the super combined of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. A problematic right knee hampered his performance during the first half of 2011 season, and has sidelined him since January 2011. Surgery in June 2011 caused Lizeroux to miss the 2012 season. Jens Byggmark
Jens Byggmark (born 22 August 1985) is a Swedish former World Cup alpine ski racer who specialised in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom. Byggmark was born in Örebro but was raised in Tärnaby. He raced for Tärna IK Fjällvinden, the world's most successful ski club. He made his debut in the European Cup in 2005. Byggmark has Sámi roots on his mother's side. He has two children, a daughter and a son, together with his wife, Michaela Delér. Thomas Mermillod-Blondin (born 3 January 1984) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from France. Born in Annecy, Haute-Savoie, he primarily competed in super-G, but his best results were in the super combined event: he took five of his six World Cup podiums in combined, with the other coming in super-G. Mermillod-Blondin made his World Cup debut in 2007 and represented France at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2011 World Championships. Kilian Albrecht (; born 13 April 1973 in Vorarlberg) is an Austrian people, Austrian former alpine skier who represented both Austria and Bulgaria. He competed for Austria at the Austria at the 2002 Winter Olympics, 2002 Olympics and for Bulgaria at the Bulgaria at the 2010 Winter Olympics, 2010 Olympics. Natko Zrnčić-Dim (;), born 7 March 1986, is a Croatian alpine ski coach and retired World Cup skier. He won a bronze medal in super combined at the World Championships in 2009 at Val-d'Isère, France, and is a member of SK Medveščak. Akira Sasaki
is a Japanese alpine skier. At the 2002 Winter Olympics, Sasaki ranked 34th in the giant slalom. He did not finish in the slalom event. His best result in the Alpine Skiing World Cup is from 2003 slalom in Wengen, where he finished in a surprising second place with starting number 65. His other best results are fourth places in Kranjska Gora in 2004 and in Beaver Creek in 2005, fifth in Sestriere 2004 and 2005, and second in Schladming and in Shigakōgen in 2006. Kjetil Jansrud (born 28 August 1985) is a Norwegian former World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic champion. He competed in all alpine disciplines apart from slalom, and his best event was the giant slalom where he has six World Cup podiums and an Olympic silver medal. Since 2012, he had concentrated on the speed events, where all but two of his World Cup victories had come. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he won the super-G and placed third in the downhill. Mattias Hargin
Mattias Hargin (born 7 October 1985) is a Swedish former World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Stockholm, he competed mainly in slalom, and is the younger brother of Janette Hargin (b. 1977), who also raced for Sweden. Hargin was married to Swedish alpine free-skier Matilda Rapaport, who died in an avalanche in Chile in July 2016. He finished fifth in the slalom at the 2009 World Championships and competed for Sweden at the 2010 Winter Olympics in the slalom, finishing in 14th place. Michael Janyk
Michael Janyk (born March 22, 1982, in Vancouver) is a Canadian retired alpine skier. Janyk appeared for the Canadian team in the slalom event at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where he finished in 17th place. Janyk has yet to win a World Cup race in his professional career, but has finished second on one occasion, December 3, 2006, in a slalom race in Beaver Creek. He also won the bronze medal in Slalom in February at the 2009 Alpine Skiing World Championship in Val d'Isère. He announced his retirement from the sport in March 2014. Along with team-mate Manuel Osborne-Paradis he established the Mike and Manny Foundation, which organises ski camps for children.
