Alpine Skiing At The 2014 Winter Olympics – Women's Super-G
The women's super-G competition of the Sochi 2014 Olympics was held at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort near Krasnaya Polyana, Russia, on Saturday, 15 February. Anna Fenninger from Austria won the race, getting her first Olympic medal. Maria Höfl-Riesch of Germany won the silver medal, and Nicole Hosp of Austria finished third. Of the 2010 medalists, only Tina Maze participated and finished fifth. Summary The race course was in length, with a vertical drop of and a starting elevation of above sea level. Edit Miklós (born 31 March 1988) is a Hungarian-Romanian former World Cup alpine ski racer, a specialist in the speed events of Downhill and Super-G. Since 2002, she has trained in Austria. Career Born in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, into an ethnic Hungarian family, Miklós began skiing at age five. By the age of 12, she participated in World Cup races for children, and made her World Cup debut in December 2005 at age 17. Lotte Smiseth Sejersted (born 5 March 1991) is a Norwegian former alpine skier. She won a silver medal at the 2009 Junior World Alpine Skiing Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in the downhill event. She took another two medals at the 2010 World Junior Championships: a silver in the combined and a bronze in the downhill. In 2011, she won gold medal, gold in the downhill at the World Junior Alpine Skiing Championships 2011, Junior World Alpine Skiing Championships in Crans Montana. She made her FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup debut in October 2009 in Sölden, but was disqualified. Ilka Štuhec (born 26 October 1990) is a Slovenian World Cup alpine ski racer, focusing on the speed events of downhill and super-G. She was a three-time junior world champion in three different disciplines, and was the world champion in downhill in 2017 and 2019. Marie Mancuso (born March 9, 1984) is an American retired World Cup alpine ski racer, Olympic gold medalist and podcast host. She won the giant slalom at the 2006 Winter Olympics, and was the silver medalist in both downhill and combined in 2010, and the bronze medalist in the combined in 2014. She has also won five medals (two silver and three bronze) at the World Championships and seven races in regular World Cup competition. Fabienne Suter (born 5 January 1985) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Switzerland. Born in Sattel in the canton of Schwyz, she specialized in super-G, giant slalom, and downhill. Career At the 2003 World Championships in St. Moritz, she fell in the giant slalom and injured her pelvis. While recovering, Suter resided in Calgary, Canada, with close family friends.
