Allan Bertil Almqvist (29 August 1902 – 16 May 1972), nicknamed Bertila and Trallgöken, was a Swedish writer and illustrator. He is famous for his World War II-era En svensk tiger propaganda poster (which was one of the most recognized symbols in Sweden around this time period) as well as his children's book series, later comic, '' Barna Hedenhös'' (''The Stone Age Kids Discover America'', ''The Stones Explore Britain''). Carl Jonas Love Ludvig Almqvist (28 November 1793 – 26 September 1866) was a Swedish author, romantic poet, romantic critic of political economy, realist, composer and social critic. Biography Carl Jonas Love Almqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the son of War Commissioner Karl Gustav Almqvist (1768–1846) and Birgitta Lovisa Gjörwell (1768–1806), daughter of journalist and editor Carl Christoffer Gjörwell Sr. (1731–1811). Almqvist's younger half-brother was Director-General Gustavus Fridolf Almquist (1814–1886), who was the father of Agnes Hammarskjöld. He studied at Uppsala University and then worked as a clerk in Stockholm. In 1823 he gave up his post, and in the autumn of the following year moved to Adolfsfors-Köla in northern Värmland where he and some friends, inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, intended to live out a rural idyll. Ester Almqvist
Ester Dorothea Almqvist (3 November 1869 – 11 June 1934) was a Swedish artist who was a pioneer of Expressionist painting in Sweden. Family and education Almqvist was born in Bromma but spent her childhood in Stockholm, where her parents taught in a school for Christian missionaries. She is the female artist who is represented with most artworks in the collections of Malmö Konstmuseum, a total of 2,083 pieces. She had specified in her will that her collection of oil and watercolour paintings, charcoal, pastel and ink drawings, graphic pages and sketchbooks should be donated to that particular museum. Her father, a priest, died when she was nine. Her mother worked as a private tutor and book seller for the sake of providing for her family. Gertrud Johanna Almqvist (16 October 1875 – 24 June 1954) was a Swedish writer and feminist. Throughout her career, she wrote numerous books, particularly on the subject of women, and actively advocated for women's rights. Her works also portrayed female homosexual relationships. Johan Magnus Almqvist
Johan Magnus Almqvist (September 6, 1799 – October 9, 1873) was a Swedish theologian and parliamentarian. Biography Almqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden, to civil servant and vicar and Gustava Brandelius. He began his studies at Uppsala University in 1819 and thereafter studied at Lund University, receiving his master's degree in philosophy in 1823. The following year he was ordained. In 1830, Almqvist became vicar of Skärstad Church near Jönköping and remained so until his death. From 1844 to 1866 he was a contractual provost and member of the Riksdag of the Estates. As a politician, he was a liberal and belonged to the opposition party within the clergy against its conservative majority. Kurt Almqvist (1912–2001) was a Swedish people, Swedish poet, intellectual and spiritual figure, representative of the Traditionalist School and the Perennial philosophy. Ludvig Teodor Almqvist (January 4, 1818 – August 26, 1884) was a Swedish politician and judge. Biography Almqvist was born in Gränna, Sweden, to , vicar and priest. In 1835, Almqvist began his studies at Uppsala University. In 1846, he became assessor of the Svea Court of Appeal and, in 1848, secretary to the auditor. Niklas Almqvist (born 26 January 1977), better known by his stage name Nicholaus Arson, is the lead guitarist and backup vocalist of the Swedish garage rock band The Hives, of which his brother Pelle Almqvist, Howlin' Pelle is the lead singer.
