There have been two baronetcies created for persons with the surname Allen, one in the Baronetage of England and one in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Both creations are extinct. Baronetage Of England
Baronets are hereditary titles awarded by the Crown. The current baronetage of the United Kingdom has replaced the earlier, existing baronetages of England, Nova Scotia, Ireland and Great Britain. To be recognised as a baronet, it is necessary to prove a claim of succession. When this has been done, the name is entered on the Official Roll of the Baronetage. Persons who have not proven their claims may not be officially styled as baronets. This was ordained by Royal warrant (document), Royal Warrant in February 1910. British India Steam Navigation Company ("BI") was formed in 1856 as the Calcutta and Burmah Steam Navigation Company. History The ''Calcutta and Burmah Steam Navigation Company'' had been formed out of Mackinnon, Mackenzie & Co, a trading partnership of the Scots William Mackinnon and Robert Mackenzie, to carry mail between Calcutta and Rangoon. It became British India SN Co in 1862. Under the hand of Lord Inchcape, who had become chairman in 1913, the company became part of the P&O group of companies in 1914 through a complex amalgamation, but continued with its own identity and organisation for another nearly 60 years until 1972, when it was entirely absorbed into P&O. There have been two Baronetcies created for persons with the surname Allin, both in the Baronetage of England. Both creations are extinct. The Allin Baronetcy, of Blundeston in the County of Suffolk, was created in the Baronetage of England on 7 February 1673 for the naval commander Sir Thomas Allin. The title became extinct on the death of the second Baronet in 1696. The Allin Baronetcy, of Somerleyton in the County of Suffolk, was created in the Baronetage of England on 14 December 1699 for Richard Allin. He was the son of Edmund Anguish and his wife Alice Allin, he assumed the name and arms of Allin in lieu of that of Anguish upon inheriting the Somerleyton estates on the death, in 1696, of his maternal uncle, Sir Thomas Allin, 2nd Baronet of Blundeston. The Alleyne Baronetcy, of Four Hills in Barbados, is a title in the Baronetage of Great Britain. It was created on 6 April 1769 for Sir John Alleyne, 1st Baronet, John Alleyne, Speaker of the Barbados House of Assembly.
