WikiProject Novels
A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is an affinity group for contributors with shared goals within the Wikimedia movement. WikiProjects are prevalent within the largest wiki, Wikipedia, and exist to varying degrees within Wikimedia project, sibling projects such as Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata, and Wikisource. They also exist in different languages, and translation of articles is a form of their collaboration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CBS News noted the role of Wikipedia's WikiProject Medicine in maintaining the accuracy of articles related to the disease. Another WikiProject that has drawn attention is WikiProject Women Scientists, which was profiled by ''Smithsonian Magazine, Smithsonian'' for its efforts to improve coverage of women scientists which the profile noted had "helped increase the number of female scientists on Wikipedia from around 1,600 to over 5,000". Nedra Tyre
Nedra Tyre (October 6, 1912 – 1990) was an American social worker and author, specializing in crime fiction. A native of Offerman, Georgia, Tyre attended Emory University and the Richmond School of Social Work. She had professional stints as a librarian, clerk, and advertising copy writer, in addition to her fiction and social work. Her book reviews appeared in ''The Richmond News Leader'' and ''The Atlanta Journal''. Tyre died in Richmond, Virginia in 1990. Hillary Waugh
Hillary Baldwin Waugh (June 22, 1920 – December 8, 2008) was a pioneering American mystery novelist. In 1989, he was named a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America. Pseudonyms used by Waugh included Elissa Grandower, Harry Walker and H. Baldwin Taylor. Career Hillary Baldwin Waugh was born on June 22, 1920, in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated in 1942 from Yale University, majoring in art with a music minor. He was an editor of campus humor magazine '' The Yale Record''. During his senior year at Yale, Waugh enlisted in the United States Navy Air Corps and, after graduation, received his aviator's wings. He served in the Panama Canal Zone for two years, flying various types of aircraft. While in military service, Waugh turned his hand to creative writing, completing and publishing his first novel ''Madam Will Not Dine Tonight'' in 1947. Clayton Matthews
Clayton Hartley Matthews (24 October 1918 – 25 March 2004) was an American writer of mystery, erotic and romance novels, with more than 35 books and many short stories as Clayton Matthews. He often collaborated with his wife, writer Patricia Matthews (Patty Brisco); and they were called "the hottest couple in paperbacks.". Life Clayton Hartley Matthews was born on 24 October 1918. He started writing short stories in the late 1950s. He began contributing to the ''Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine'' and then turned to writing paperback novels, mostly in the erotic genre, in the early 1960s. In a California's local writers' group, he met writer Patty Brisco. After his divorce, they married on 3 November 1972, and lived near San Diego. In the late 1970s, his agent Jay Garon, suggested to him and his wife to write romance novels. In the 1980s and 1990s Matthews and his wife collaborated on romance and mystery novels. Robert Bloch
Robert Albert Bloch (; April 5, 1917September 23, 1994) was an American fiction writer, primarily of crime fiction, crime, psychological horror fiction, horror and Fantasy Fiction, fantasy, much of which has been dramatized for radio, cinema and television. He also wrote a relatively small amount of science fiction. His writing career lasted 60 years, including more than 30 years in television and film. He began his professional writing career immediately after graduation from high school, aged 17. Best known as the writer of ''Psycho (novel), Psycho'' (1959), the basis for the Psycho (1960 film), film of the same name by Alfred Hitchcock, Bloch wrote hundreds of short stories and over 30 novels. He was a protégé of H. P. Lovecraft, who was the first to seriously encourage his talent. Jack Ritchie
John George Reitci (February 26, 1922 – April 25, 1983) was an American writer, primarily known for his vast output of crime fiction short stories under the pen name Jack Ritchie. He completed one novel shortly before his death; it was published posthumously in 1987. Personal life Early life Jack Ritchie was born in a room behind his father's tailor shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 26, 1922. After attending Boys Technical High School, Ritchie enrolled at the Milwaukee State Teachers College for two years. During the Second World War, he enlisted or was drafted into the United States Army in 1942 and was stationed in the Central Pacific for two years, serving for much of that period on the island of Kwajalein. It was here that he first discovered crime and mystery fiction. To pass the time, he read many mystery books and it was through this that he grew to love the genre.
