Alfonso De Portago
Alfonso Antonio Vicente Eduardo Ángel Blas Francisco de Borja Cabeza de Vaca y Leighton, 11th Marquess of Portago, Grandee, GE (11 October 1928 – 12 May 1957), best known as Alfonso de Portago, was a Spanish aristocrat, racing and bobsleigh driver, jockey and pilot. Born in London to a prominent family in the Spanish nobility, peerage of Spain, he was named after his Godparent, godfather, King Alfonso XIII of Spain, Alfonso XIII. His grandfather, the Vicente Cabeza de Vaca, 9th Marquess of Portago, 9th Marquess of Portago, had been Mayor of Madrid, while his father, who was President of Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro, Puerta de Hierro and a prolific golfer, died of a heart attack while showering after a Polo (sport), polo match. The Ferrari Monza is one of a series of cars built by Ferrari. In the early 1950s, Ferrari shifted from using the compact Gioacchino Colombo-designed V12 engine in its smallest class of sports racers to a line of four-cylinder engines designed by Aurelio Lampredi. Inspired by the success of the light and reliable 2.5 L 553 F1 car, the four-cylinder sports racers competed successfully through the late 1950s, culminating with the famed 500 Mondial and 750 Monza. V12 models used downdraft carburettors located centrally in the "valley" of the engine, while the inline-engined fours used side-draft units and thus did not need the hood scoops. The Mille Miglia (, ''Thousand Miles'') was an open-road, motorsport Endurance racing (motorsport), endurance race established in 1927 by the young Counts :it:Franco Mazzotti, Francesco Mazzotti and Aymo Maggi. It took place in Italy 24 times from 1927 to 1957 (13 times before World War II, and 11 times from 1947). Guidizzolo ( Upper Mantovano: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Mantua in the Italian region Lombardy, located about east of Milan and about northwest of Mantua. The Ferrari 335 S was a sports racing car produced by Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari between 1957 and 1958. The car was a direct response to the Maserati 450S which with its 4.5-litre engine was threatening to overpower the 3.8-litre 315 S and 3.5-litre 290 MM. Four cars were produced in total. Development An evolution of the 315 S, it had an evolution of the Jano V12 engine displacing and a maximum power output of at 7,400 rpm; this increase in power allowed the car to attain an estimated top speed of around . Due to its exceptional performance at the time, the car was also called "Super Testarossa". Four cars were produced (chassis numbers 0674, 0676, 0700 and 0764. The 1000 km Buenos Aires was an endurance sports car and stock car event held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The race mostly run on the Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez, although it ran on the Costanera circuit in 1957. Besides a single race in Caracas, Venezuela, it was the only annual South American race in the history of the World Sportscar Championship. History In 1953, Formula One visited the newly built Autódromo in the center of Buenos Aires for the Argentine Grand Prix.
