Alexander Petrovich Nikolayev (Russian: Александр Петрович Николаев; 14 November 1918 – 13 June 2009) was a Red Army senior lieutenant and Hero of the Soviet Union. He received the title Hero of the Soviet Union and the Order of Lenin for his actions during the Battle of Berlin. Nikolayev also fought in the Siege of Leningrad. Early life Alexander Nikolayev was born on 14 November 1918 in the village of Strakhinovo in Bezhetsky Uyezd of the Tver Governorate to a peasant family. He graduated from junior high school. After graduation, Nikolayev worked as a shepherd on the farm. In 1935, he moved to Leningrad and became a plumber. In October 1939, he was drafted into the Red Army. World War II Nikolayev fought in the Winter War as a driver in the 824th Motor Transport Battalion. On 22 June 1941, he was stationed with the 13th Tank Brigade. Aleksandr Andreyevich Nikolayev (; 17 August 1905 – 10 October 1949) was an officer of the Soviet Navy. He served during the Second World War and reached the rank of vice-admiral. Career Nikolayev was born on 17 August 1905 in the village of , Kirsanovsky Uyezd, in what was then Tambov Governorate in the Russian Empire. He spent some time in the Komsomol, before joining the Communist Party in 1927. He entered the Red Navy that same year, studying at the Baltic Fleet's submarine school from 1928, and graduating with a specialisation in diesel machinery in 1929. He then served as an instructor in diesel motors at the submarine school until 1934, while also taking courses at the Leningrad Communist University and graduating in 1932. He continued to be involved with political education, and naval training more generally, serving as secretary of the school's party bureau, and a senior instructor of the political departments. Aleksandr Vasilievich Nikolayev (; 30 August 1897 – 27 June 1957), also known as Usto Mumin (), was a Soviet painter of Russian origin, who lived and worked in the Uzbek SSR. Biography Early years Alexander Nikolayev was born in Voronezh in 1897. His father was a military engineer, who traveled extensively around Russian Empire, taking the family with him, before settling permanently in Voronezh in 1914. Nikolayev studied in the Sumsk Military School from 1908 till 1916. There he met his first painting teacher Nikolay Evlampiev. After military school he served in Imperial Russian Army in 1916–1917. After army studied in Uhlan School in Tver till 1918, when he started to attend the art studio of Alexander Buchkuri in Voronezh.
