Adolph 'Eddie' Brandstatter
Adolph 'Eddie' Brandstatter was the first restaurateur in Hollywood, California. He owned and managed several establishments in the neighborhood's early years and was known as the Host of Hollywood. Early life Eddie Brandstatter was born in France in 1886. Prior to becoming a restaurateur, he worked in restaurants in Paris, London, and New York City. He moved to Los Angeles in the 1910s. Career In 1920, Brandstatter was manager and joint owner of the Sunset Inn in Santa Monica, California. In 1923, Brandstatter built and opened Montmartre Cafe in Hollywood. The establishment, which cost $150,000 to open, was popular amongst members of the film industry and earned the moniker "the center of Hollywood life." Carbon monoxide poisoning typically occurs from breathing in carbon monoxide (CO) at excessive levels. Symptoms are often described as " flu-like" and commonly include headache, dizziness, weakness, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion. Vine Street is a street in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, that runs north–south between Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles, and Melrose Avenue. The intersection of Hollywood and Vine being symbolic of Hollywood itself. The intersection has been redeveloped. Lindy's was two different deli and restaurant chains in Manhattan, New York City. The first chain, founded by Leo "Lindy" Lindemann, operated from 1921 to 1969.("Opening date was Aug. 20, 1921.") In 1979, the Riese Organization determined that the Lindy's trademark had been abandoned, and opened new restaurants, the last of which closed in February 2018.
