Adolfo Ríos
José Adolfo Ríos García (born 11 December 1966) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He won the 1999 U.S. Cup with Mexico. Club career Ríos García made his debut for UNAM in 1985 and remained there until 1990, when he went to play for Veracruz. He was a starter for Veracruz, playing 7 years, making over 230 appearances for the team. In 1997, he went on to play for Necaxa. In the winter of 1998, he won the Mexican Primera División for the first time, defeating Chivas de Guadalajara on an aggregate score of 0–2. He continued to play with the club for one more season, making 72 appearances with the club in total. In the summer of 1999, he transferred to Club America, and became an instant starter. In the summer of 2002, he was the starting goalkeeper for America in their victory against Necaxa in the Championship Final, which allowed him to win the second Mexican Primera División title of his career, and Club America's ninth overall. Uruapan
Uruapan () is the second largest city in the Mexico, Mexican state of Michoacán. It is located at the western edge of the Tarascan Plateau, Purépecha highlands, just to the east of the Tierra Caliente (Mexico), Tierra Caliente region. Primera División de México ''(Mexican First Division)'' Apertura 2003 is a Mexican football tournament - one of two short tournaments that take up the entire year to determine the champion(s) of Mexican football. It began on Saturday 2 August 2003, and ran until 22 November, when the regular season ended. Irapuato was promoted to the Primera División de México to play this tournament, and Cuernavaca was to be relegated to the Primera División A. The Cuernavaca did not get to play in Primera A, though, as the team was disbanded by FMF. On 20 December, Pachuca defeated Tigres UANL and became champions for the third time. The 1999 Copa América was a football tournament held in Paraguay, from 29 June to 18 July. It was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body. In order to bring the number of competing teams to twelve, CONMEBOL invited CONCACAF's Mexico, accepting their fourth invitation, and AFC's Japan, who made their debut at the tournament. Japan thus became the first country outside of Americas to participate at the Copa América. Uruguay fielded a youth team. The 1997 Copa America was the 38th edition of the Copa America. It was held in Bolivia from 11 to 29 June. It was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body. In this edition, Costa Rica and Mexico were the invited teams to bring up the total number of competing teams to 12.
