Abu'l-Hasan Ali Of Granada
Abu'l-Hasan Ali ibn Sa'd (; d. 1485), known as Muley Hacén in Spanish (''Muley'' being derived from Arabic مولاي '' mawlāy'' = "my lord"), was the twenty-first Nasrid ruler of the Emirate of Granada in Spain, from 1464 to 1482 and again from 1483 to 1485. Life The son of Sa'd, Abu'l-Hasan Ali became sultan in 1464, and in 1477 he refused to pay tribute to the Crown of Castile. In 1481 he ordered an invasion to the city of Zahara de la Sierra by surprise, killing and enslaving the unarmed Christian Zaharans. This action was taken by Isabella I of Castile as a reason to start the war against Granada. He was the father of Muhammad XII (also known as ''Boabdil''), the last sultan of Granada, by his relative Aixa. Abu'l-Hasan (artist)
Abu'l-Hasan (or Abu al-Hasan; 1589 – c. 1630), from Delhi, India, was a Mughal painter of miniatures during the reign of Jahangir. Biography Abu al-Hasan was the son of Aqa Reza Heravi of Herat in Safavid Iran, a city with an artistic tradition. Aqa Reza was established as an artist and took up employment with Jahangir (r. 1605 –1627) before the latter's accession to the throne of the Mughal empire. When Abu al-Hasan began producing art, the emperor, Jahangir, appreciated the skills of the boy. In 1599, Abu al-Hasan moved with Jahangir to his newly founded court in Allahabad. The emperor considered Abu al-Hasan to be particularly special to him and under his care. This is because although Abu al-Hasan's artwork was similar in many ways to his father's with Dutch and English influence, it was considered to be of a higher quality similar to that of older masters in the field. Abul Hasan Chowdhury (born 15 April 1951; known as Kaiser) is a Bangladeshi politician. He served as the State Minister of Foreign Affairs and a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Tangail-1 constituency for two terms. Early life and education Chowdhury was born on 15 April 1951 in Dhaka, East Bengal. He belonged to a Bengali Muslim zamindar family from Nagbari in Tangail, then part of Mymensingh district. He is the eldest son of a former president of Bangladesh, Abu Sayeed Chowdhury. His grandfather, Abdul Hamid Chowdhury, was a former speaker of the East Pakistan Provincial Assembly. ''Abu Hassan'' ( J. 106) is a comic opera in one act by Carl Maria von Weber to a German libretto by , based on a story in ''One Thousand and One Nights''. It was composed between 11 August 1810 and 12 January 1811 and has set numbers with recitative and spoken dialogue. The work is a Singspiel in the then popular Turkish style. Performance history ''Abu Hassan'' was first performed at the Residenz Theater in Munich on 4 June 1811, conducted by the composer. "Abou Hassan" is one of the stories in the ''Arabian Nights''. It concerns Abú al-Hasan-al-Khalí'a (Abou Hassan), a young merchant of Baghdad who is conveyed while asleep to the palace of Haroun-al-Raschid, and on awakening is made to believe that he is in truth the Caliph. Twice this jest is played upon Abou by the facetious Haroun, who ends by making him his favourite. In English translation the tale is sometimes entitled "The Sleeper Awakened". Burton chose "The Sleeper and the Waker" for his translation. Abul Hasan (1947–1975; born Abul Hossain Miah) was a Bangladeshi poet and journalist. Early life Abul was born at Barnigram in Tungipara, Gopalganj Mahakuma, Faridpur District, on 4 August 1947. He was admitted to the University of Dhaka to study English with honours, but could not complete his studies. Instead, he joined the news section of the Ittefaq in 1969. Subsequently, he became assistant editor of the Ganabangla (1972–1973) and Dainik Janapad (1973–1974). Death He died on 26 November 1975 at PG Hospital (now Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University) due to long-standing heart problems. Literary works Abul, who came first in the Asian Poetry Competition held in 1970, occupies an important place in modern Bengali poetry, though he wrote for only a decade. Abu Ahsan Mohammad Shamsul Arefin Siddique (26 October 1953 – 13 March 2025) was a Bangladeshi academic who served as the 27th vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka during 2009–2017.
