A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
''A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving'' is the tenth prime-time animated television special based upon the comic strip ''Peanuts,'' by Charles M. Schulz. It originally aired on the CBS network on November 20, 1973, and won an Emmy Award the following year. It was the third holiday special after ''A Charlie Brown Christmas'' in 1965 and ''It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown'' in 1966. Except for the opening football gag, it is the first ''Peanuts'' TV special to have a completely original script without relying on the strip. Plot In the cold open, Lucy encourages Charlie Brown to try and kick her football to honor the tradition of Thanksgiving football, then as usual pulls the ball away just before Charlie Brown reaches it and tells him that some traditions fade away. Franklin (Peanuts)
Franklin is a fictional character in the comic strip ''Peanuts'', created by Charles M. Schulz. Introduced on July 31, 1968, Franklin was the first black character in the strip. He is the second person of color to appear in the strip, debuting a year after José Peterson, a polite, biracial athlete of Mexican and Swedish ancestry who was introduced in 1967. Franklin goes to school with Peppermint Patty and Marcie. In his first appearance, he met Charlie Brown when they were both at the beach. Franklin's father was a soldier fighting in Vietnam, to which Charlie Brown replied "My dad's a barber... he was in a war too, but I don't know which one." Marcie is a fictional character featured in the long-running syndicated daily and Sunday comic strip ''Peanuts'' by Charles M. Schulz. Marcie is a studious girl who is sometimes depicted as being terrible at sports. She is friends with the tomboyish, athletic Peppermint Patty, who gets annoyed at Marcie when she calls her "sir", and she has a mostly unrequited crush on the underdog Charlie Brown. Peppermint Patty is a fictional character featured in Charles M. Schulz's comic strip ''Peanuts''. Her full name, very rarely used in the strip, is Patricia Reichardt. She is one of a small group in the strip who live across town from Charlie Brown and his school friends (although in '' The Peanuts Movie'', '' Snoopy in Space'', and '' The Snoopy Show'' she, Marcie, and Franklin live in the same neighborhood and attend the same school).
