AFL Women's Under 18 Championships
The NAB AFL Women's Under-18 Championships are the annual national Australian rules football championships for women players aged 18 years or younger. The competition is seen as one of the main pathways towards being drafted into a team in the professional AFL Women's competition (AFLW). Originally known as the ''AFL Youth Girls National Championship'', the competition has teams of players representing their states and territories in a round robin tournament. The tournament is currently sponsored by the National Australia Bank. The winner of the 2019 AFL Women's Under 18 Championships, 2019 tournament was Vic Metro. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the pre-eminent professional sports, professional competition of Australian rules football. Woomera (spear-thrower)
A woomera is an Australian Indigenous Australians, Aboriginal wooden spear-throwing device. Similar to an atlatl, it serves as an extension of the human arm, enabling a spear to travel at a greater speed and force than possible with only the arm. 2016 AFL Youth Girls National Championships
The 2016 edition of the AFL Youth Girls National Championships was held from 2 May to 6 May in Melbourne, Victoria. Nine teams competed in the round-robin tournament, divided into pool A: Queensland, Western Australia, Vic Country and Vic Metro; and pool B: the Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, a combined New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory side (NSW/ACT) and the Indigenous Australian Woomeras. A professional women's Australian rules football competition (AFL Women's (AFLW)) was to be inaugurated in 2017, creating a new incentive for performance in the championships. Several clubs who had received AFLW licences used the competition to scout potential players. Vic Metro won pool A, completing an unbeaten tournament by holding Western Australia scoreless in the final played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Sarah Allan (footballer)
Sarah Allan (born 19 November 1997) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women's competition. Early life and career Allan's father was Keith Allan, who played in the South Australian National Football League for Central District Football Club. She grew up in the south east of South Australia on the Limestone Coast, originally from Beachport but later moving to Millicent. As a junior player, Allan was twice named in the Youth Girls All-Australian team. In 2016, when playing in the South Australian Women's Football League for Salisbury, she chose to wear the same number as her father, the number 39. Danielle Ann Ponter (born 8 January 2000) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Hayley Miller (born 3 February 1996) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Fremantle Football Club in the AFL Women's competition. Miller won the Fremantle fairest and best and leading goalkicker awards in season 6 and was named in the 2022 AFL Women's season 6 All-Australian team.
