8 July 2024 Ukraine Missile Strikes
A massive missile attack on Ukraine occurred on 8 July 2024 during the Russo-Ukrainian War. Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Kropyvnytskyi, and Pokrovsk came under fire from more than forty missiles of the Russian military. In total, at least 47 people were killed and about 170 were injured. In Kyiv, strikes damaged residential buildings and infrastructure, notably including the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, the country's largest, which killed two adults. The city's was also hit. The international community condemned the attacks. The Security Service of Ukraine defined Russia's attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital as a war crime and initiated criminal proceedings into the matter. Human Rights Watch also wrote that the strike against the children’s hospital should be investigated as a war crime. National specialized children's hospital "Okhmatdyt" (, an acronym of ''охорона материнства та дитинства'' - ''protection of motherhood and childhood'') is a multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment facility in Kyiv, Ukraine, which provides specialized, highly qualified medical care to the children's population of Ukraine. It is the largest children's hospital in Ukraine. Desnianskyi District, Kyiv
The Desnianskyi District is an administrative raion (district or borough) of the city of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It is located in the north-eastern part of the city on the Left Bank of the Dnieper River and is the most populous district of Kyiv. It is also the second largest district, with the total area of ca. 14.2 ha. The Desnianskyi District mainly consists of two microdistricts – Troieshchyna and Lisovyi – making it predominantly residential in nature. Sviatoshynskyi District is an urban district in the city of Kyiv located at the western part of city. The district was created in 2001 after renaming the former Leningrad District. It borders four other districts in Kyiv such as Podilskyi District, Obolonskyi District, Solomianskyi District, Shevchenkivskyi District as well as Bucha Raion that administratively is part of Kyiv Oblast. The Solomianskyi District is a district in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Located in the western part of the city, in the basin of Lybid river, Dniepr's tributary.
