7th Congress Of The Workers' Party Of Korea
The 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the ruling party of North Korea, was held on 6–9 May 2016. Background The 7th Congress was the first Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea held since the 6th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, 6th Congress in 1980. In 2010 the Charter of the Workers' Party of Korea, party rules stipulation that Congresses be held every five years was dropped, recognising this had been ignored for thirty years. The purpose of the Congress was to review the party's work from the time period since the 6th Congress, but also to instill public loyalty toward the leadership of the country. April 25 House Of Culture
The April 25 House of Culture is a theatre located in Pyongyang, North Korea. It was built in 1974–1975 to provide a venue for military education, and was originally called the February 8 House of Culture. It is located on Pipha Street in the Moranbong District of Pyongyang. The classically colonnaded building is considered one of the best examples of 1970s socialist monumentality in North Korea, the other being the visually similar Mansudae Art Theatre. The 6th Central Auditing Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK)(6차 조선로동당 중앙감사위원회) was elected at the party's 6th Congress on 14 October 1980. Upon its renewal at the 3rd WPK Conference in 2010 it was composed of one chairman, one vice chair and 13 ordinary members. 6th Central Committee Of The Workers' Party Of Korea
The 6th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was elected by the 6th Congress on 14 October 1980, and remained in session until the election of the 7th Central Committee on 9 May 2016. The Central Committee composition was replenished by the 3rd WPK Conference. In between party congresses and specially convened conferences the Central Committee is the highest decision-making institution in the WPK and North Korea. The Central Committee is not a permanent institution and delegates day-to-day work to elected bodies, such as the Presidium, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Military Commission and the Control Commission in the case of the 6th Central Committee. It convenes meetings, known as "Plenary Session of the ermCentral Committee", to discuss major policies. Kwangmyongsong-4 () was a satellite launched by North Korea on 7 February 2016. The launch happened after North Korea January 2016 North Korean nuclear test, conducted a nuclear test on 6 January and as the United Nations Security Council was deciding on Sanctions against North Korea, sanctions to be placed on the country following the nuclear test. The launch was also timed to celebrate the 74th birthday of the late leader Kim Jong Il on February 16. North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear detonation on 6 January 2016 at 10:00:01 UTC+08:30. At the Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Site, approximately northwest of Kilju City in Kilju County, an underground nuclear test was carried out. The United States Geological Survey reported a 5.1 magnitude earthquake from the location; the China Earthquake Networks Center reported the magnitude as 4.9.
