List Of World Records In Athletics
World records in Sport of athletics, athletics are ratified by World Athletics. Athletics records comprise the best performances in the sports of track and field, road running and racewalking. Records are kept for athletics at the Summer Olympics, all events contested at the Olympic Games and some others. Unofficial records for some other events are kept by track and field statisticians. The only non-metric system, metric track distance for which official records are kept is the mile run. Criteria The criteria which must be satisfied for ratification of a world record are defined by World Athletics in Part III of the Competition Rules. Ketema (formerly known as Mender 7) is a town in western Ethiopia. The name comes from the Amharic word ''ketema'', meaning a fortified encampment; it is also a common personal name in Ethiopia. Gqeberha ( , ), formerly named Port Elizabeth, and colloquially referred to as P.E., is a major seaport and the most populous city in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Stephen Mokoka (born 31 January 1985) is a South African long-distance runner who competes in races ranging from 3000 metres to the 50 km distance. He formerly held the 50 km world record. He is a four-time medalist at the Universiade and has represented South Africa internationally in road, cross country, and track events. Clayton Jordan Albertson (born October 11, 1993) is an American long-distance runner, who competes for Brooks Running. He is the world record holder in the 50-kilometer run with a time of 2:38:43. Collegiate career Albertson ran collegiately for Arizona State. During his time there he broke the school's indoor 5000m record, had 4 program top 10 times, and qualified for the 2016 NCAA Championships in the steeplechase. Desiree "Des" Nicole Linden (née Davila; born July 26, 1983) is an American long-distance runner, author, and podcaster. She represented the United States in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics women's marathon. In 2018, she won the Boston Marathon, becoming the first American in 33 years to win the woman's category in the event. She holds the women's 50K world record of 2:59:54. Dorena, Oregon
Dorena is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is located southeast of Cottage Grove on the Row River, a tributary of the Coast Fork Willamette River. History The first settlers arrived in the Dorena area in the 1850s and depended on agriculture to survive, but later logging and gold mining became the mainstays of the local economy. Dorena was named by combining the first names of Dora Burnette and Lorena Martin. Dorena school was built in 1896, and Dorena post office was established in 1899. In 1946, the town was abandoned when the Corps of Engineers began construction of Dorena Dam on the Row River for flood control. The Corps relocated approximately one hundred homes from the town's former site at . The dam was completed in 1949 and created Dorena Reservoir, which flooded the townsite.
