Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) is an American video game developer based in Redmond, Washington, part of Xbox Game Studios. Headed by Pierre Hintze, the studio is responsible for the Halo (franchise), ''Halo'' science fiction franchise, and develops ''Halo'' projects themselves and in collaboration with other studios. Originally named after the ''Halo'' character 343 Guilty Spark, the studio was created in 2007 to oversee the franchise after original ''Halo'' developer Bungie regained its independence from Microsoft. After co-developing downloadable content for ''Halo: Reach'', Bungie's final ''Halo'' game, 343 Industries released ''Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary'' and ''Halo 4'', the latter starting the studio's "Halo (franchise)#Reclaimer saga, Reclaimer Saga" of the mainline games. ''Halo: Combat Evolved'' is a 2001 first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox. The game was ported to Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X in 2003. It was later released as a downloadable Xbox Original for the Xbox 360. ''Halo'' is set in the 26th century, with the player assuming the role of Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier. Master Chief is accompanied by Cortana, an artificial intelligence. Certain Affinity is an American video game development studio based in Austin, Texas. It was founded in 2006 by Max Hoberman and a small number of other ex-Bungie employees and other industry veterans. On October 18, 2024, Certain Affinity was acquired by Keywords Studios. Pandemic Studios, LLC was an American video game developer based in Westwood, Los Angeles. Andrew Goldman and Josh Resnick founded the studio in 1998 after leaving Activision. ''Official Xbox Magazine'' (''OXM'') was a British monthly video game magazine which started in November 2001 around the launch of the original Xbox. A preview issue was released at E3 2001, with another preview issue in November 2001. The magazine was bundled with a disc that included game demos, preview videos and trailers, and other content, such as game or Xbox updates and free gamerpics. The discs also provided the software for the Xbox 360 for backward compatibility of original Xbox games for those without broadband and Xbox Live access. Kiki Wolfkill (born July 7, 1969) is an American video game developer. Wolfkill grew up in Pennsylvania and studied journalism and art at the University of Washington, road racing competitively on the side.
