2022 Men's Oceania Cup
The 2023 Men's Oceania Cup will be the twelfth edition of the Men's Oceania Cup after the cancellation of the 2022 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Oceania organised by the Oceania Hockey Federation. It will be held in August 2023. The exact venue and dates are yet to be confirmed. Australia are the defending champions, having won all previous editions. The winner will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Australia Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Australia men's national field hockey team (nicknamed the Kookaburras) is one of the nation's most successful top-level sporting teams. They are the only Australian team in any sport to receive medals at six straight Summer Olympic Games (1992–2012).
