2022 Florida's 20th Congressional District Special Election
The 2022 Florida's 20th congressional district special election was a special election to the United States House of Representatives. The seat has been vacant since incumbent Democratic representative Alcee Hastings died on April 6, 2021, of pancreatic cancer. The special election was scheduled by Governor Ron DeSantis to be held on January 11, 2022. The primary elections were held on November 2, 2021. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (born January 25, 1979) is an American businesswoman and politician serving as the United States House of Representatives, U.S representative for Florida's 20th congressional district. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, she won a 2022 Florida's 20th congressional district special election, special election in 2022 to fill the seat left vacant after the death of Alcee Hastings. Early life and career Cherfilus-McCormick was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, to parents from Haiti and raised in the borough of Queens. Florida's 21st Congressional District
Florida's 21st congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in Southeast Florida. It includes Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. From 2003 to 2012, the 21st district was in Miami-Dade County and included many of Miami's western suburbs, such as Hialeah, Olympia Heights and Cutler Bay. In December 2015, Florida underwent redistricting due to a Florida Supreme Court ruling. Much of the 21st district became the 22nd district and was pushed further into Broward County. In the process, it absorbed the part of Broward County that had previously been in the neighboring 22nd district, which had been renumbered the 21st. Bobby Powell (born September 7, 1981) is a Democratic member of the Florida Senate who has represented the 30th district, which includes West Palm Beach and surrounding areas in northeastern Palm Beach County, since 2016. Shevrin D. Jones (born October 12, 1983) is an American politician from the state of Florida. He was elected to the Florida State Senate in 2020 to represent the 35th District.
