2018 Men's Australian Hockey League
The 2018 Men's Australian Hockey League was the 26th edition of the men's field hockey tournament. The 2018 edition of the tournament was be held between 6 – 28 October, and featured a new format from previous editions. The finals phase of the 2018 tournament was held in the Queensland city of the Gold Coast, from the 25 – 28 October. QLD Blades won the tournament for a record tenth time after defeating NSW Waratahs 5–3 in the gold-medal match. Tassie Tigers claimed the bronze medal after defeating the Canberra Lakers 1–0. Competition format Unlike previous editions of the Men's Australian Hockey League, the 2018 edition will include a very different format. Victorian Vikings
The Victorian Vikings are a field hockey team which participate in Australia's national field hockey league, the AHL. The team is mostly made up of amateurs who participate in the Victorian State League Division 1. Previous to being known as the Victorian Vikings, the Victorian team have been referred to Melbourne Redbacks, VIS Redbacks and Azuma Vikings. The team's home stadium is the Victorian State Netball and Hockey Centre. Championships Since their inception in the inaugural 1991 season, the Vikings have won 2 championships; the fourth most of any club in the league. Parkville Stadium, previously known as the State Netball Hockey Centre (also referred to as Melbourne Sports Centres – Parkville) is a multipurpose sporting facility located in Melbourne, Australia. It is the administrative headquarters for both Netball Victoria and Hockey Victoria and features two outdoor hockey fields and eleven indoor netball courts, with the main hockey field capable of seating up to 8,000 and the main Netball court seating up to 3,050 spectators. Perth Hockey Stadium is Western Australia's premier hockey facility, with two world-class synthetic turf pitches, a large bar and canteen area and a function centre all available to the public. The venue holds up to 6,000 fans. The Perth Hockey Stadium (PHS) is located at the Curtin University in the south eastern suburb of Bentley, Western Australia.
