The 2015 Balearic Island Council elections were held on Sunday, 24 May 2015, to elect the 10th Island Councils of Mallorca and Menorca and the 3rd Island Councils of Formentera and Ibiza. All 76 seats in the four Island Councils were up for election. Mallorca
Mallorca, or Majorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean. The capital of the island, Palma, is also the capital of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands have been an autonomous region of Spain since 1983. Entesa Per Mallorca
Entesa per Mallorca ( en, Agreement for Majorca, ExM), or Entesa, was a nationalist and progressist political party in Majorca. It was founded in 2006 by former members of the Socialist Party of Majorca (PSM) who disagreed with the creation of the coalition Bloc for Majorca. In October 2006, ExM held its first congress, with the main objective of participating in the 2007 local elections in Majorca. In 2009, ExM joined Republican Left (ERC) in the Balearic Islands to participate in the 2009 European election, within the coalition Europe of the Peoples–Greens. Between 2011 and 2013, it was part of a coalition with the PSM and IniciativaVerds (IV), taking part in the 2011 regional election. The Socialist Party of Majorca ( ca, Partit Socialista de Mallorca, PSM; ), officially PSM–Entesa after the incorporation of Entesa per Mallorca (ExM) in February 2013, is a political party in Majorca, Spain. The PSM defines itself as socialist, environmentalist, and Catalan nationalist, from a Majorcan point of view. Union, Progress and Democracy ( es, link=no, Unión, Progreso y Democracia , UPyD ) was a Spanish political party founded in September 2007 and dissolved in December 2020. It was a social-liberal party that rejected any form of nationalism, especially the separatist Basque and Catalan movements. The party was deeply pro-European and wanted the European Union to adopt a federal system without overlap between the European, national and regional governments.
