The 2012 Australian Open women's doubles was a tournament that took place during the 2012 Australian Open at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta were the defending champions, but lost to Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva in the third round. The unseeded Russian pair went on to defeat Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci, 5–7, 6–4, 6–3, for the title. Svetlana Kuznetsova
Svetlana Aleksandrovna Kuznetsova (born 27 June 1985) is a Russian inactive professional tennis player. She is a two-time major singles champion, winning the 2004 US Open and 2009 French Open, and finishing runner-up at two other majors. In doubles, Kuznetsova reached the finals of each major at least once, winning the Australian Open twice. Kuznetsova moved to Spain at the age of seven to attend the Sanchez-Casal Academy. Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková (née Hlaváčková; ; born 10 August 1986) is a Czech retired professional tennis player.
