2011 Balearic Regional Election
The 2011 Balearic regional election was held on Sunday, 22 May 2011, to elect the 8th Parliament of the Balearic Islands, Parliament of the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. All 59 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with 2011 Spanish regional elections, regional elections in twelve other autonomous communities and 2011 Spanish local elections, local elections all throughout Spain. Political control of the islands had fluctuated in the preceding elections with the People's Party (Spain), People's Party (PP) losing their majority and consequently, control to a coalition headed by the Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands (PSIB–PSOE) at the 2007 Balearic regional election, 2007 election. The Parliament of the Balearic Islands (Catalan: ''Parlament de les Illes Balears'') is the unicameral autonomous parliament of the Balearic Islands, one of the autonomous communities of Spain. 2011 Spanish Local Elections
The 2011 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 22 May 2011, to elect all 68,230 councillors in the 8,116 municipalities of Spain and all 1,040 seats in 38 provincial deputations. The elections were held simultaneously with regional elections in thirteen autonomous communities, as well as local elections in the three foral deputations of the Basque Country and the eleven island councils in the Balearic and Canary Islands. The days before the elections were marked by the 2011 Spanish protests which had been held in different cities across Spain since 15 May. The elections resulted in a landslide victory for the opposition People's Party (PP) and other centre-right parties, which won control of all of Spain's largest cities. Formentera (Parliament Of The Balearic Islands Constituency)
Formentera is one of the four constituencies ( es, circunscripciones) represented in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands, the regional legislature of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands. The constituency currently elects one deputy using plurality voting. Its boundaries correspond to those of the island of Formentera. Until the 2003 election, the results in this district were also used to determine the composition of the Island Council of Ibiza and Formentera during the same term as the Parliament, with Formentera counting for 1 out of the 13 seats of the Council—11 out of 12 from 1983 to 1987—. Gent per Formentera ( en, People for Formentera, GxF), is a political grouping of the island of Formentera that appeared in 2007 to contest the elections to the Island Council of Formentera and the elections to the Parliament of the Balearic Islands (in coalition with PSIB). They describe themselves as a left-wing, environmentalist and nationalist party dedicated to fulfilling the specific needs of the island.
