The 2007–08 Elitserien season was the 33rd season of Elitserien. It began on September 24, 2007, with the regular season ending March 8, 2008. Swedish Hockey League
The Swedish Hockey League (officially SHL; sv, Svenska Hockeyligan) is a professional ice hockey league, and the highest division in the Swedish ice hockey system. The league currently consists of 14 teams. The league was founded in 1975, and while Swedish ice hockey champions have been crowned through various formats since 1922, the title and the Le Mat Trophy have been awarded to the winner of the SHL playoffs since the league's inaugural 1975–76 season. In the 2010–11 season, the SHL was the world's most evenly matched professional ice hockey league. During the 2011–12 season, the SHL was the most well attended ice hockey league in Europe, averaging 6,385 spectators per game, however in 2013–14, the SHL was third best in Europe, with an attendance average of 5,978. Mora IK
Mora IK (or Mora Ishockeyklubb) is a Swedish professional ice hockey club from Mora in northern Dalarna. After failing the 2019 SHL qualifiers, Mora has been relegated for play in the second-tier league, HockeyAllsvenskan. Mora has previously played 25 seasons in the top tier, including four seasons in Elitserien (as the SHL was called at the time). The team has reached the finals of the Swedish Championships only once, in 1950, a match which they lost 7–2 to Djurgårdens IF. Mora has played in the top two tiers of Swedish hockey since the 1944–45 season. History Mora IK was founded in 1935. Marcus Vinnerborg
Karl Johan Marcus Vinnerborg (born 8 August 1972) is a Swedes, Swedish professional ice hockey Official (ice hockey), referee, currently working in the Swedish Hockey League—Sweden's premier ice hockey league—and with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Vinnerborg has won Guldpipan ( en, the gold whistle) three times, awarded to the premier official in Elitserien as voted by the players. Vinnerborg has officiated at seven IIHF sanctioned events, among them four consecutive Ice Hockey World Championships, World Championships between 2006—2009, and at the Ice hockey at the 2010 Winter Olympics – Men's tournament, 2010 Olympics. Guldpipan
Guldpipan ( en, golden whistle) officially known as SICO:s guldpipa, is a Swedish ice hockey award, awarded annually since 1982 to the premier referee in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) as judged by the members of Sveriges ishockeyspelares centralorganisation (SICO; en, Sweden's ice hockey players central organisation). The award holds a high status among officials since only players are allowed to vote. Ulf Rådbjer has the record of winning the award seven consecutive times. Mikko Luoma
Mikko Luoma (born ) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey defenceman, who played 3 games in the National Hockey League with the Edmonton Oilers. He most notably played in the Liiga and Elitserien. Playing career Luoma started his playing career with the Finnish JYP's youth team, playing for them from 1993 until 1998 when he stepped up in JYP's senior team in SM-liiga. In his first two seasons in SM-liiga he totalled 18 points over 104 games. From season 2000–01 to 2002–03 he played with Tappara, totalling 66 points in 164 games. Luoma was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 6th round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, 181st overall, as an over-aged player. He only played one season in North America, largely in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Roadrunners, although he also saw some time with the Oilers. Mattias Weinhandl
Mattias John Erich Weinhandl (born June 1, 1980) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey right winger who last played for Linköpings HC of the Swedish Elitserien. Weinhandl was drafted 78th overall by the New York Islanders in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He played 182 career NHL games for the Islanders and the Minnesota Wild, scoring 19 goals and 37 assists for 56 points. He overcame a serious eye injury in 1999 to make the Islanders squad two seasons later. Playing career On November 13, 1999, the 19-year-old Weinhandl was playing for Team Sweden in a game against the Czech Republic in the U-20 Four Nations Tournament. Håkan Loob Trophy
The Håkan Loob Trophy is the annual award for the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) player who scores the most goals during the regular season. It was created by Svenska Hockeyligan and Canal+ in honour of Håkan Loob Håkan Per Loob (born 3 July 1960) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player for Färjestad BK of the Elitserien and the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is the head of European Scouting for the Calgary Flames afte ..., who holds the SHL record for most goals in a season (42 goals). It was first handed out for the 2005–06 season, on Elitserien's 30 year anniversary. Daniel Larsson (ice Hockey)
Daniel Larsson (born February 7, 1986) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey goaltender, who played in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career Larsson was selected 92nd overall in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. He was playing as a goaltender for the Djurgårdens IF in the Elitserien, starting in 2006. On May 15, 2008 the Wings signed Larsson to a two-year entry-level contract. He was playing on the Grand Rapids Griffins being backup to Jimmy Howard. In his first season, he tied the Griffins franchise record for consecutive shutouts at two. Guldhjälmen (''The Gold Helmet'') is a Swedish ice hockey award, which is awarded annually to the's most valuable player of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) as decided by a vote of each league’s players. First awarded in the SHL in 1986, the Guldhjälmen is sponsored by the Swedish hockey magazine ''Hockey'' in cooperation with Jofa. It is considered one of the most prestigious ice hockey prizes in Sweden. It is similar to the country's Viking Award, presented to the top Swede playing in North America as determined by player vote, and the NHL's Ted Lindsay Award, an MVP award also voted on by the players.
