2004–05 Elitserien Season
The 2004–05 Elitserien season was the 30th season of Swedish Hockey League, Elitserien. It started on September 20, 2004, with the regular season ending March 1, 2005. The playoffs of the 81st Swedish Championship ended on April 11, with Frölunda HC taking the championship. Swedish Hockey League
The Swedish Hockey League (officially SHL; sv, Svenska Hockeyligan) is a professional ice hockey league, and the highest division in the Swedish ice hockey system. The league currently consists of 14 teams. The league was founded in 1975, and while Swedish ice hockey champions have been crowned through various formats since 1922, the title and the Le Mat Trophy have been awarded to the winner of the SHL playoffs since the league's inaugural 1975–76 season. In the 2010–11 season, the SHL was the world's most evenly matched professional ice hockey league. During the 2011–12 season, the SHL was the most well attended ice hockey league in Europe, averaging 6,385 spectators per game, however in 2013–14, the SHL was third best in Europe, with an attendance average of 5,978. Brynäs IF
Brynäs IF is a Swedish ice hockey team from Gävle. The club currently plays in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), the top tier of ice hockey in Sweden. The club has played in the top-tier league since 1960, longer than any other team. History Brynäs IF was formed by Nils Norin, Ferdinand Blomkvist, and Thure Ternström on 12 May 1912 and began to play ice hockey in 1939. The club has also competed in association football, athletics, bandy, swimming, and water polo. The team has played in the hockey league's top flight since 1960 and has won the Swedish championship 13 times, most recently in 2012. Brynäs IF became the world's first ice hockey club to collaborate with the United Nations Program UNICEF, after signing a five-year contract with the organisation on 20 November 2013 (expiring in 2018). Gävle
Gävle () is a city in Sweden, the seat of Gävle Municipality and the capital of Gävleborg County. It had 77,586 inhabitants in 2020, which makes it the 13th most populated city in Sweden. It is the oldest city in the historical Norrland (Sweden's Northern Lands), having received its charter in 1446 from Christopher of Bavaria. However, Gävle is far nearer to the greater Stockholm region than it is to most other major settlements in Norrland and has a much milder climate than associated with said region. In recent years, the city has received much international attention due to its large Yule Goat figure made of straw - the Gävle Goat. Guldpipan ( en, golden whistle) officially known as SICO:s guldpipa, is a Swedish ice hockey award, awarded annually since 1982 to the premier referee in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) as judged by the members of Sveriges ishockeyspelares centralorganisation (SICO; en, Sweden's ice hockey players central organisation). The award holds a high status among officials since only players are allowed to vote. Ulf Rådbjer has the record of winning the award seven consecutive times. Oscar Steen
Oscar Einar Steen (born 20 July 1982) is a professional Swedish ice hockey forward currently playing for AIK in the Elitserien. He has played several seasons in the Swedish Elitserien, the first playing for Färjestads BK and then for Leksands IF and MoDo. In 2007 Steen won the Swedish Championships with MoDo. In the summer of 2010, MoDo opted not to renew Steen's contract, so he signed for AIK. Steen won the Rookie of the Year award in the 2004–05 Elitserien season. Mattias Weinhandl
Mattias John Erich Weinhandl (born June 1, 1980) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey right winger who last played for Linköpings HC of the Swedish Elitserien. Weinhandl was drafted 78th overall by the New York Islanders in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He played 182 career NHL games for the Islanders and the Minnesota Wild, scoring 19 goals and 37 assists for 56 points. He overcame a serious eye injury in 1999 to make the Islanders squad two seasons later. Playing career On November 13, 1999, the 19-year-old Weinhandl was playing for Team Sweden in a game against the Czech Republic in the U-20 Four Nations Tournament. Mike Knuble
Michael Rudolph Knuble ( , lv, Maikls Rūdolfs Knuble; born July 4, 1972) is a Canadian-born American former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). During his 16 NHL seasons, he played for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals. He was a member of Detroit's 1997–98 Stanley Cup championship team, and was a part of the organization during their 1996–97 Stanley Cup. The Håkan Loob Trophy is the annual award for the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) player who scores the most goals during the regular season. It was created by Svenska Hockeyligan and Canal+ in honour of Håkan Loob Håkan Per Loob (born 3 July 1960) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player for Färjestad BK of the Elitserien and the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). Guldhjälmen (''The Gold Helmet'') is a Swedish ice hockey award, which is awarded annually to the's most valuable player of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) as decided by a vote of each league’s players. First awarded in the SHL in 1986, the Guldhjälmen is sponsored by the Swedish hockey magazine ''Hockey'' in cooperation with Jofa. It is considered one of the most prestigious ice hockey prizes in Sweden. It is similar to the country's Viking Award, presented to the top Swede playing in North America as determined by player vote, and the NHL's Ted Lindsay Award, an MVP award also voted on by the players.
