2000 America's Cup
The 30th America's Cup was won by Team New Zealand, who swept the 2000 Louis Vuitton Cup winner Prada Challenge in all five races. It was the first America's Cup without an American challenger or defender. Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron
The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron is a New Zealand yacht club, and the club behind New Zealand's America's Cup campaigns, under the guises of New Zealand Challenge and Team New Zealand. It held the America's Cup from 1995 America's Cup, 1995 until 2003 America's Cup, 2003, becoming in 2000 America's Cup, 2000 the first non-American holder to successfully defend the trophy. After Team New Zealand's victory in the 2017 America's Cup, 2017 event, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron are the current holders of the America's Cup. On March 21, 2021, they beat Circolo della Vela Sicilia's Luna Rossa Challenge to again win the 2021 America's Cup. The club was established in 1871 in Auckland with the name of the "Auckland Yacht Club". Its name was changed to "Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron" when it was granted royal patronage in 1902. Hamish Pepper
Hamish Pepper (born 13 May 1971) is a New Zealand sailor. He competed at the 1996, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Pepper was born in Auckland and attended Westlake Boys High School. Sailing in a Laser, Pepper finished 10th at the 1996 Olympics and 7th in 2004. Pepper then moved to the Star and sailed with Carl Williams at the 2008 Olympics, finishing 9th. Pepper and Jim Turner finished 12th at the 2012 Olympics. Pepper has also competed in multiple Star World Championships, winning the 2006 Star World Championships with Carl Williams, finishing second with Craig Monk at the 2009 Star World Championships and 7th with Jim Turner in 2012. He was a part of Team New Zealand's successful defence of the America's Cup in 2000. Tony Rae (sailor)
Anthony Rae, also known as Trae, (born 26 June 1961) is a New Zealand Sailor (sport), sailor who has competed in the Volvo Ocean Race six times and the America's Cup seven times. Early years Rae attended Mount Roskill Grammar School. Sailing career After sailing on ''Lion New Zealand'' during the 1985–86 Whitbread Round the World Race, Rae joined the New Zealand Challenge that competed on ''KZ 7'' at the 1987 Louis Vuitton Cup. Joe Allen (sailor)
Joey Allen is a New Zealand sailor (sport), sailor who competed in multiple America's Cups. Born in Te Awamutu, Allen sailed in the 1981–82 Whitbread Round the World Race on the winner, ''Flyer II (yacht), Flyer II''. In 1984 Allen finished second in the 470 World Championships alongside Chris Dickson (sailor), Chris Dickson. He crewed boats that won the ISAF Open Match Racing World Championship in 1988 and 1990. He sailed on ''Yamaha'' in the 1993–94 Whitbread Round the World Race. He then joined Team New Zealand and was the bowman on ''NZL 32'' when it won the 1995 America's Cup. Allen was part of Team New Zealand's successful defence at the 2000 America's Cup. He then became a coach and was with the team for their 2003 America's Cup, 2003 and 2007 America's Cup campaigns. Jonathan "Jono" Macbeth (born 26 March 1973) is a former New Zealand professional yachtsman who has participated in 6 America's Cup campaigns. Macbeth was born in Castor Bay, Auckland, New Zealand. He joined Team New Zealand in 1997 and remained with them for their 2003 and 2007 campaigns. Macbeth joined the Russell Coutts, Sir Russell Coutts led American syndicate BMW Oracle Racing in 2008 and remained with them for their 2013 campaign. Mike Drummond
Mike Drummond is a New Zealand sailor and yacht designer who is a member of the America's Cup Hall of Fame. Drummond was born in Christchurch and joined New Zealand Challenge before the 1987 America's Cup and he then helped to design, and sail on, '' KZ 1'' during the 1988 America's Cup. He remained with the team for the 1992 America's Cup. He joined Team New Zealand and was part of the design and sailing teams when they won the 1995 America's Cup. He sailed in one race. Grant Loretz is a New Zealand sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cups. Born in Tokoroa, Loretz joined New Zealand Challenge, working as a sail-maker for the 1987 Louis Vuitton Cup. Craig Monk
Craig John Monk (born 23 May 1967 in Stratford, New Zealand) is a competitive sailor who won a bronze medal in the Finn class at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Monk also competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta after narrowly beating future America's Cup skipper Dean Barker for selection to the New Zealand team. He finished 13th. Monk has since been extensively involved in America's Cup racing. He was recruited as a grinder by Russell Coutts for the successful challenge in 1995 and the subsequent defence in 2000. He moved to One World for the 2003 Louis Vuitton Cup. Jeremy Lomas is a New Zealand sailor who has been involved in multiple America's Cups. Lomas sailed on ''Merit Cup'' during the 1997–98 Whitbread Round the World Race. He joined Team New Zealand before their 2000 America's Cup defence and worked as a bowman. He stayed with the team and was a part of their 2003, 2007 and 2013 campaigns.
