26th Street/Bergamot station is an at-grade light rail station in the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located near the intersection of 26th Street and Olympic Boulevard in Santa Monica, California and near the Bergamot Station Arts Center, after which the station is named. Olympic Boulevard (Los Angeles)
Olympic Boulevard (formerly 10th Street) is a major arterial road in Los Angeles, California. It stretches from Ocean Avenue on the western end of Santa Monica to East Los Angeles—farther than Wilshire Boulevard and most other streets. Its path runs parallel to and north of Pico Boulevard from Santa Monica to Downtown Los Angeles, and parallel to and south of Santa Monica Boulevard on its western end and Wilshire Boulevard past Beverly Hills. Like other major Los Angeles streets, Olympic is at least four lanes in width. Unlike other east-west arterial roads such as Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, and Sunset Boulevard, it does not cross major attractions and sites and therefore contains far less traffic. Gandara Park
Gandara Park is a 3.8 acre residential park located in Santa Monica, California, United States. Originally named Stewart Street Park, in 2016 the park was renamed to honor Joe Gandara, a local resident who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama for his actions during World War II. History Prior to the park's creation, the land was used as a clay mine. After the clay mine was abandoned, the City of Santa Monica elected to use the space as a landfill for construction debris. In 1975, the landfill was converted to a park for nearby residents. From 1975 to 2016, the park was named Stewart Street Park after the street that abuts the park. Virginia Avenue Park is a park located in the Pico neighborhood of Santa Monica, California. Originally opened in 1976, the park was redeveloped and expanded in the 1990s and early 2000s, reopening in 2005. The park hosts a number of community activities such as a weekly farmers market, afterschool programs, and social program assistance. The park is also home to the Pico Branch Library and the Thelma Terry community center. History The original park was purchased by the City of Santa Monica in 1975 and opened in 1976. Ishihara Park is a linear community park located in Santa Monica, California. The park was opened to the public in February 2017 and is named after George Ishihara, a local resident who fought in World War II as part of the Japanese-American 442nd Regimental Combat Team and participated in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.
