2029 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2029 IHF World Men's Handball Championship, will be the 31st event hosted by the International Handball Federation. It will take place in France and Germany in January 2029. Bidding process In April 2023, the IHF stated that they were looking for bids. IHF World Men's Handball Championship
The IHF Men's Handball World Championship has been organized indoor by the International Handball Federation since 1938. In the twenty-nine tournaments held, twelve national teams have won the title. France is the most successful team with six titles, followed by Sweden, Denmark and Romania with four titles each. The current champion is Denmark, which won its fourth consecutive title at the 2025 tournament in Croatia, Denmark and Norway. History The first indoor championship took place in Germany in 1938, involving four teams from Europe made up of 7 players who competed in a round robin stage to find a winner. It wouldn't be until sixteen years later where the second World Championship was held in the country of Sweden. PSD Bank Dome
PSD Bank Dome, originally branded ''ISS Dome'', is a multi-use indoor arena in Düsseldorf, Germany. The arena, which opened in 2006, has a maximum capacity of 15,151 and mainly hosts sports events and concerts. Usage The venue is used mostly for ice hockey matches, as well as concerts. Its home team is the Düsseldorfer EG. Furthermore, the arena will host the gymnastica artistics and the final phase of the basketball tournaments during 2025 Summer World University Games and some matches of the 2027 IIHF World Championship. 1958 World Men's Handball Championship
The 1958 World Men's Handball Championship was the third indoor handball World Championship. It was held in the German Democratic Republic between 27 February and 8 March 1958. Germany sent a united team composed of players from the GDR and the FRG. Sweden won the championship. Qualification There was no qualification for this edition. Besides Germany which was already qualified as host, the first 15 teams got a spot. Belgium made the last respectively sixteenth application and was therefore denied. They were reservist if an other country would have cancelled. Switzerland was the only participant of the last world championship (1954) which didn't apply. At the meeting of the Schweizerischer Handballausschuss (HBA) on 27./28. July 1957 the council decided unanimous to boycott the world championship.
