2025–26 Philadelphia Flyers Season
The 2025–26 Philadelphia Flyers season will be the 59th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. The team's home arena, known as the Wells Fargo Center since 2010, will be renamed the Xfinity Mobile Arena effective September 1. Offseason On May 14, former Flyer Rick Tocchet was hired as the 25th head coach in franchise history. Tocchet, who had coached the Vancouver Canucks for the past three seasons and won the Jack Adams Award in 2024, signed a reported five-year contract that makes him one of the NHL's highest paid coaches. Associate coach Brad Shaw, who had served as interim head coach after John Tortorella was fired on March 27 and was a candidate for the head coach job, left the team and was named an assistant for the New Jersey Devils. Metropolitan Division
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division (NHL, 1993–2013), Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division. John Tortorella
John Tortorella (born June 24, 1958) is an American professional ice hockey coach and former player. He most recently served as head coach for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Tortorella has also been the head coach of the NHL's New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets. He led Tampa Bay to the 2004 Stanley Cup championship. Giant Center (stylized as GIANT Center) is a 10,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States. Rocky Lee Thompson (born August 8, 1977) is a Canadian former ice hockey right wing, who currently serves as the head coach of theBridgeport Islanders of the American Hockey League. Jay Varady (born September 16, 1977) is an American former ice hockey player and current assistant coach for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Prior to joining the NHL coaching ranks, Varady coached the Sioux City Musketeers in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the Kingston Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and the Tucson Roadrunners in the American Hockey League (AHL).
