2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships – Women's Shot Put
The women's shot put at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships was held at the Nanjing's Cube of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park in Nanjing, China, on 21 March 2025. It was the 21st time the event was contested at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. Athletes qualified by achieving the entry standard or by their World Athletics Ranking in the event. Canadian Sarah Mitton won her second consecutive event title. All three medalists threw a distance of at least twenty metres, the first time that had happened since 1991. Background The women's shot put was contested 20 times before 2025, at every previous edition of the World Athletics Indoor Championships. Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park
The Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park () is a sport complex located in Pukou District, Nanjing, China. Its construction was started in December 2011 as part of the venues used for 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. The complex, which occupies around 1,000,000 m2 of land, consists of a main arena with other smaller sport venues. Main arena The main arena consists of two parts, the 21,000-seater Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park Arena and the 18,000-seater Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park Stadium. Unveiled in November 2017, the indoor arena is the largest indoor stadium in China. 2025 World Athletics Indoor Tour
The 2025 World Athletics Indoor Tour was the tenth edition of the World Athletics Indoor Tour, the highest series of international indoor track and field meetings. The tour returned with the same number of meetings as the previous year, with 67 meetings across Europe, North America, and Asia, nine of which comprise the highest tier of events labelled Gold. Below the top tier, there were three other tiers labelled Silver, Bronze, and Challenger mirroring the outdoor World Athletics Continental Tour. World Athletics Indoor Championships
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. They have been held every two years except for when they were held in consecutive years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate the need for them to be held in alternate years to the outdoor World Athletics Championships in the future, and in 2024, 2025, and 2026.
