2025 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Women's Super-G
The women's super-G in the 2025 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup consisted of nine events, including the final. A ninth race planned for St. Moritz, Switzerland was cancelled and not rescheduled until 1 March, when it was added as a second super-G at La Thuile on Thursday, 13 March. The discipline did not open for the season until 15 December, 2024 in Beaver Creek, Colorado, United States. Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland, a five-time champion in the discipline, overwhelmingly won the final to capture her record sixth championship in the discipline (and third straight). The season was interrupted for the Alpine Skiing World Championships, this time in Saalbach, Austria during 4–16 February 2025. Super-G
Super giant slalom, or super-G, is a racing discipline of alpine skiing. Along with the faster downhill, it is regarded as a "speed" event, in contrast to the technical events giant slalom and slalom. It debuted as an official World Cup event during the 1983 season and was added to the official schedule of the World Championships in 1987 and the Winter Olympics in 1988. Much like downhill, a super-G course consists of widely set gates that racers must pass through. The course is set so that skiers must turn more than in downhill, though the speeds are still much higher than in giant slalom (hence the name). Each athlete only has one run to clock the best time. In the Olympics, super-G courses are usually set on the same slopes as the downhill, but with a lower starting point. Emma Aicher (born 13 November 2003) is a Swedish-born German World Cup alpine ski racer who also holds Swedish citizenship. In the alpine World Cup, she competes in all disciplines. Kajsa Vickhoff Lie (born 20 June 1998) is a Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer, representing the club Bærums SK. She specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. Career Vickhoff Lie made her World Cup debut at age 18 in January 2017, and has competed in four World Championships in 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025. She won gold medals in downhill and super-G at the Junior World Championships at Davos in 2018. Vickhoff Lie was airlifted to hospital after suffering a left leg injury during the women's super-G World Cup race at Val di Fassa, Italy on 28 February 2021. Verena "Vreni" Schneider (born 26 November 1964) is a retired ski racer from Switzerland. She is the most successful alpine ski racer of her country, the fourth most successful female ski racer ever (after Lindsey Vonn, Annemarie Moser-Pröll and Mikaela Shiffrin) and was voted "Swiss Sportswoman of the Century". Early life Schneider was born in Elm, the daughter of a shoemaker. Annemarie Moser-Pröll
Annemarie Moser-Pröll (born 27 March 1953) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Austria. Born in Kleinarl, Salzburg, she was the most successful female alpine ski racer during the 1970s, with an all-time women's record of six overall titles, including five consecutively. She had most success in downhill, giant slalom and combined races. In 1980, her last year as a competitor, she secured her third Olympic medal (and first gold) at Lake Placid and won five World Cup races. Her younger sister Cornelia Pröll is also a former alpine Olympian. Career During her career, Moser-Pröll won the overall World Cup title a record six times, including five consecutive (1971–75). Lauren Macuga (born July 4, 2002) is an American World Cup alpine ski racer on the U.S. Ski Team, and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. Macuga competed in the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics and made her World Cup debut in December 2021. Early life Born and raised in Park City, Utah, Macuga is the second-born of four children.
