The 2025–26 New York Knicks season will be the 80th season for the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). On June 3, 2025, the Knicks fired head coach Tom Thibodeau after five seasons with the team. On July 7, 2025, the Knicks hired Mike Brown as their head coach. Draft The Knicks entered this draft period (which lasted for two days, similar to the previous year's draft) holding only one second-round pick. They initially had another second-round pick, but it was forfeited due to tampering violations with respect to free agency involving the Knicks first signing Jalen Brunson to the team. The Knicks forfeiting their own second-round pick this year would ultimately become the only second round pick lost in this season's draft after previously having the prior three drafts done with only 58 total picks in each of them due to multiple teams (including the Knicks in the past) violating free agency rules during the respective offseason periods in mind. Mike Brown (basketball, Born 1970)
Michael Burton Brown (born March 5, 1970) is an American basketball coach who most recently served as the head coach for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Brown was previously the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors. He also served as the head coach of the Nigerian national team from 2020 until 2022, coaching the team at the 2020 Olympic Games. Brown began coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2005. The team reached the 2007 NBA Finals, where they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs. Brown was honored as NBA Coach of the Year for leading the Cavaliers to a team-record and league-best 66 wins in 2009. The Cavaliers won 61 games, again a league-best, in 2010.
