2024–25 Virginia Tech Hokies Women's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Virginia Tech Hokies women's basketball team represented Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Hokies were led by first-year head coach Megan Duffy and played their home games at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Duffy entered her first season after being hired to replace Kenny Brooks on April 3, 2024. The Hokies won five out of their first six games before the Thanksgiving tournament. Megan Duffy
Megan Duffy (born July 13, 1984) is an American women's basketball coach, currently the head coach at Virginia Tech. Previously, she had been the head coach with Marquette, before that the Miami RedHawks women's basketball team, an associate head coach with the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team, George Washington Colonials women's basketball team, an assistant coach with St. John's Red Storm women's basketball team, and a professional basketball player in the WNBA, most recently playing for the New York Liberty. College playing career Duffy was born in Kettering, Ohio. After graduating from Chaminade-Julienne High School, a Catholic high school in Dayton, she attended college at University of Notre Dame and graduated in 2006 with a double major in Psychology and Computer Applications. ACC–SEC Challenge
The ACC–SEC Challenge is an in-season NCAA Division I college basketball series that matches men's and women's teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It replaced the ACC–Big Ten Challenge and the Big 12/SEC Challenge which both ended in 2022. ESPN again would play an important role with the creating of the challenge and holds the broadcast rights to all games. The ACC–SEC Challenge will occur every year early in the non-conference portion of the schedule for the teams, typically played in late November/early December. Each game will be hosted by one of the participating schools, with teams typically alternating home and away status in each successive year. Overtime (OT) or extra time (ET) is an additional period of play to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same.
