2024–25 Villanova Wildcats Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represented Villanova University in the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by coach Kyle Neptune in his third season as a head coach, the Wildcats played their home games at the Finneran Pavilion on the school's campus in the Philadelphia suburb of Villanova, Pennsylvania and Wells Fargo Center as members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 19–14, 11–9 in Big East play to finish in sixth place. They defeated Seton Hall in the first round of the Big East tournament before losing to UConn in the quarterfinals. They accepted a bid to the inaugural College Basketball Crown tournament. On March 15, 2025, the school fired head coach Kyle Neptune. Assistant coach Mike Nardi was named interim coach for the postseason tournament. On March 30, the school named Maryland head coach Kevin Willard the team's new head coach. Kyle Neptune
Kyle Neptune (born January 21, 1985) is an American basketball coach. He most recently served as head coach of the Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team. Playing career Neptune attended Brooklyn Friends School, and was a member of the school's 2003 State Championship team, recording a school record in points with 1,650. He played collegiate basketball at Lehigh under Billy Taylor where he was a member of the Mountain Hawks' 2004 NCAA tournament team. Coaching career Neptune's coaching career began in 2008 as a video coordinator under Jay Wright at Villanova and was on staff for the Wildcats' 2009 Final Four appearance. In 2010, he joined Joe Mihalich's staff at Niagara for three seasons before returning to Villanova as an assistant coach for eight seasons. The College Basketball Crown (CBC) is an American men's college basketball tournament promoted by Anschutz Entertainment Group and Fox Sports. The inaugural tournament was held in March and April 2025, at two venues on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada: T-Mobile Arena and MGM Grand Garden Arena. The 2024 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I men's college basketball teams not selected to participate in the 2024 NCAA tournament. The tournament began on March 19 and ended on April 4. The first three rounds were played on campuses, with the semifinal and championship final played at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 2024 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Big East Conference held March 13–16, 2024, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The winner received the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Seeds All 11 Big East schools participated in the tournament.
