The 2024–25 Mercer Bears women's basketball team represented Mercer University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bears, who were led by first-year head coach Michelle Clark-Heard, played their home games at Hawkins Arena in Macon, Georgia as members of the Southern Conference (SoCon). Previous season The 2023–24 Mercer Bears women's basketball team, Bears finished the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season, 2023–24 season 15–17, 8–6 in SoCon play, to finish in a three-way tie for second place. They defeated 2023–24 East Tennessee State Buccaneers women's basketball team, East Tennessee State, before falling to top-seeded and eventual tournament champions 2023–24 Chattanooga Mocs women's basketball team, Chattanooga in the semifinals of the 2024 Southern Conference women's basketball tournament, SoCon tournament. Michelle Clark-Heard
Michelle Clark-Heard (born July 27, 1968) is the head coach for the Mercer Bears women's basketball team. Career In her first year at Western Kentucky University her team posted a 22–11 record, after going 9–21 the season prior to her arrival. In 2018, the University of Cincinnati hired her as the head coach for the Cincinnati women's basketball team. In her first season, she led the team to more than 20 wins for the first time since 2003 and at least 12 conference wins for the first time since 1999. On March 7, 2023, she was fired as the head coach of the Cincinnati women's basketball team. She finishes with an overall record of 74–74 and a conference record of 35–46. On May 17, 2023, Mississippi State University announced that she was hired as the Assistant Athletic Director for Women's Basketball.
