The 2024–25 Melbourne United season was the 42nd season of the franchise in the National Basketball League (NBL), and their 11th under the banner of Melbourne United. This is their eighth season under head coach Dean Vickerman. Derwent Entertainment Centre
The Derwent Entertainment Centre (DEC), known Naming rights, commercially as MyState Bank Arena since 2021, is Tasmania's largest indoor arena, serving as Hobart's primary location for large indoor sporting events, functions and live entertainment. Commissioned by the Tasmanian Government and the Glenorchy City Council, the DEC served as the home arena for the Hobart Devils in the National Basketball League Australia, NBL from 1989 until 1996, when the team's licence was revoked. The 2024–25 Tasmania JackJumpers season was the 4th season for the franchise in the National Basketball League (NBL). As reigning NBL champions, the JackJumpers competed in the 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup, becoming the first team from Oceania to play in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Gold Coast Sports And Leisure Centre
Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre is a multi-purpose arena and sports facility located at Carrara on Queensland's Gold Coast in Australia, capable of seating 5,000 fans. The centre is located adjacent to the Carrara Indoor Stadium and forms a part of the Gold Coast Sports Precinct. A section of the centre also serves as a sports administration and indoor training facility for the Gold Coast Suns with the facility being called the Austworld Centre under a naming rights partnership, who play home matches and train outdoors at the adjacent Carrara Stadium and training oval. Constructed for use in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre hosted badminton, powerlifting, weightlifting and wrestling competitions. Akech Aliir
Akech was a ruler in East Africa from 1760 until 1787. Akech was the second wife of Rwoth Nyabongo, ruler of the chiefdom of Paroketu. The royal line of succession had up until this point been patrilineal, and in due course Nyabongo would have been succeeded by Jobi, the eldest son of Akura, his senior wife. Akech, however, enjoyed a position in religious leadership, which augmented her royal standing, and she used this to consolidate her own power; consequently, by 1760 she had risen to get political prominence not only as the wife of the chief and as a ritual leader, but as mother of the successor to the throne. Her son Roketu later came to power; his people then came to be known as the Pa-Akech, or "people of Akech", recognizing the fact that she had founded a ruling dynasty. Robert Loe
Robert Loe (born 5 August 1991) is a New Zealand professional basketball player for the Auckland Tuatara of the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL). He is also contracted with the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for Saint Louis University and has played in the Australian NBL since 2016. He represents the New Zealand national team but also holds a British passport. Early life Loe was born in Leicester, England. He was raised in Auckland, New Zealand, where he attended Westlake Boys High School. Marcus Andrew Lee (born September 14, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for Wilki Morskie Szczecin of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats and University of California Golden Bears. Early life Lee was born in San Francisco, California, and raised in the Bay Area with three older brothers. High school career Lee attended Deer Valley High School in Antioch, California, where he was a starter on the varsity basketball team. As a junior, he averaged 13.9 points, 13.1 rebounds, 9.1 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. During his senior year he averaged 17.7 points, 19.5 rebounds, and 6.7 blocks per game.
