2024–25 Dayton Flyers Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Dayton Flyers men's basketball team represented the University of Dayton in the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by head coach Anthony Grant in his eighth season with the Flyers. The Flyers played their home games at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10). Previous season The Flyers finished the 2023–24 season 25–8, 14–4 in A-10 play to finish in third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the A-10 tournament to Duquesne. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 7 seed in the West Region where they defeated Nevada in the first round before losing to Arizona in the second round. Anthony Grant (basketball)
Anthony Duvale Grant (born April 15, 1966) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Dayton. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 to 2009, and at the University of Alabama from 2009 to 2015. Prior to becoming the VCU head coach, he was an assistant coach at the University of Florida from 1996 to 2006. Biography Early life After graduating from Miami Senior High School, Grant became an All-City first-team selection and Player-of-the-Year. He played at the University of Dayton from 1983 to 1987 while residing at 3 Evanston (The Gateway) and guiding them to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament before bowing out to eventual national champion Georgetown. 2024 NBA Draft
The 2024 NBA draft was the 78th edition of the National Basketball Association's annual NBA draft, draft. Unlike recent years, the 2024 draft took place over two nights. This was the first NBA draft to be held on multiple nights since the draft was shortened to two rounds, with earlier drafts consisting of as few as three or as many as twenty-one rounds prior to the current format's debut in 1989. DaRon Rodrick Holmes II (born August 15, 2002) is an American professional basketball player for the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Dayton Flyers. Early life and high school career Holmes grew up in Goodyear, Arizona and initially attended Millennium High School. He was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year after averaging 23.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, and 3.1 assists per game as a junior.
