2024–25 Charlotte Hornets Season
The 2024–25 Charlotte Hornets season was the 35th season for the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). This also became the second season where Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall would take on majority ownership of the Hornets franchise after buying majority shares from Michael Jordan during the month of August 2023. On April 3, 2024, the Hornets announced that Steve Clifford would step down as head coach at the end of the 2023–24 season and move into a front-office advisory role. On May 9, 2024, the Hornets hired Charles Lee as their new head coach. On March 23, 2025, the Hornets were eliminated from playoff contention for the 9th season in a row following a 122–105 loss to the Miami Heat. Charles Lee (basketball)
Charles Lee (born November 11, 1984) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a two-time NBA champion, having won his first championship with the Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant coach. He was previously an assistant coach of the Boston Celtics, helping to coach them to the 2024 NBA Playoffs, where he won his second NBA Championship. A 6'3" guard from Bucknell University, he spent most of his professional career in Israel and Europe. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. Kenneth "KJ" Simpson Jr. (born August 8, 2002) is an American professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League. Cholet Basket is a professional basketball club that is based in Cholet, France. The club plays in the LNB Pro A. Their home arena is La Meilleraie. The 2024–25 Miami Heat season was the 37th season for the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). On April 3, the Heat were locked in to a play-in berth following the Milwaukee Bucks' victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, but was the first season since 2018–19 with a Sub-.500 campaign and they were unable to improve upon their 46–36 record from the previous season. On April 18, the Heat became the first 10-seeded team to make the playoffs and clinched for the sixth season in a row, defeating the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks in the Play-In Tournament. On April 28, the Heat were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs. Steven Gerald Clifford (born September 17, 1961) is an American professional basketball coach and executive who serves as a front office advisor for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He previously served as the head coach of the Hornets and the Orlando Magic. Early life Born in Island Falls, Maine, Clifford grew up in Mattawamkeag, Maine, until the third grade, when he moved to Vermont.
