2024–25 Central Michigan Chippewas Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Central Michigan Chippewas men's basketball team represented Central Michigan University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Chippewas, led by fourth-year head coach Tony Barbee, played their home games at McGuirk Arena in Mount Pleasant, Michigan as members of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 14–17, 7–11 in MAC play to finish in a tie for 10th place. They failed to qualify for the MAC tournament. On April 3, 2025, the school fired head Tony Barbee. On April 14, the school named Ferris State head coach Andy Bronkema the team's new head coach. Previous season The Chippewas finished the 2023–24 season 18–13, 12–6 in MAC play, to finish in fourth place. They were defeated by Bowling Green in the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament. Tony Barbee
Anthony Michael Barbee (born August 10, 1971) is an American college basketball coach, who was most recently the head coach at the Central Michigan Chippewas men's basketball, Central Michigan. He was previously head coach at Auburn Tigers men's basketball, Auburn and UTEP Miners men's basketball, UTEP. Barbee led UTEP to a Conference USA championship in 2010 and was named Conference USA Coach of the Year. Barbee played college basketball for UMass Minutemen basketball, Massachusetts under John Calipari, winning two Atlantic 10 Conference, Atlantic 10 regular season and Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament, tournament championships in 1992 and 1993. The Wayne State Warriors are the athletic teams that represent Wayne State University, located in Detroit, Michigan, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions.
