Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948. Rules At the elite level, competitors run down a runway (usually coated with the same All-weather running track, rubberized surface as running tracks, crumb rubber or vulcanized rubber, known generally as an all-weather track) and jump as far as they can from a wooden or synthetic board, 20 centimetres or 8 inches wide, that is built flush with the runway, into a pit filled with soft damp sand. Luca Ekler
Luca Ekler (born 28 October 1998) is a Hungarian Paralympic athlete who competes in the 100 metres, 200 metres and long jump events. She is a three-time European Champion and one-time World Champion. Maya Nakanishi
is a Paralympic athlete from Japan, competing in category T44 sprint and long jump events. She was born in Ōsaka, Ōsaka Prefecture, and played soft tennis competitively. Career In 2006 while working at a paint factory she was struck by a 5-tonne steel frame. Her right lower leg was amputated below the knee. After finding the transition back to tennis difficult she was encouraged to switch to track and field and quickly found success, setting Japanese records in the F44 category for the 100 and 200 meter events shortly after. Nakanishi competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China, where she placed 4th in the women's 200 m F44 event, and finished sixth in the women's 100 metres. Marlene Van Gansewinkel
Marlene van Gansewinkel (born 11 March 1995) is a Dutch Paralympic athlete. In 2021, she won the gold medal in both the women's 100 metres T64 and 200 metres T64 events at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan. She also won the bronze medal in the women's long jump T64 event. In 2016, she won the bronze medal in the women's long jump T44 event at the Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Vanessa Low (born 17 July 1990) is a German-born Australian Paralympian, Paralympic Track and field, athlete competing in T42 (classification), T42 Sprint (running), sprint and long jump events. Born in East Germany, she gained Australian nationality in June 2017. In 2016, Low was the only actively competing female track athlete with two above-knee amputations of her legs. Despite the location of these amputations and despite her having to compete with athletes having one fully functional leg, she successfully made it to the finals of all of her sprint and long jump competitions at both the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London and the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Rio.
